So yesterday in one of my classes the oddest thing happened... I sat down next to some guy, and at the end of class he was looking at a thing I filled out with my name on it and said, "You look familiar, and your name looks really familiar."

So I was asking if he had any music friends, had been to any of the operas, or anything like that, but he said no. Weird. Could my fame be spreading without my knowing it?

.... or are there other people with the same name running around that I'm not aware of? Hmmmmm. I'm glad he finally said something though, it was getting weird because he kept glancing at me during class and all I could think of was, "Am I doing something weird?" I kept checking to make sure my shirt wasn't on inside out or something. Then I was paranoid maybe I had a huge zit or something. You never know.

When this past season of America's Next Top Model started, a friend of mine called me and informed me that she didn't know I had a sister. I told her I didn't. She tells me that there was a girl on there that looked just like me. I looked it up and sure enough Anne has a resemblance to me. And since she's 5 years younger than me I know have some doubts seeded in my mind that I do not wish to elaborate on.

That's just it. I can't seem to keep one on my face unless I consciously think about it real hard or actually find something interesting or amusing. But since I've been told often enough that I also look really arrogant, I should also be careful with smiling an amused smile over something only I think is amusing. *shrugs*

Besides, it would sometimes be nice if my students dared feel a bit more free with me. But on the other hand: I have no trouble making my students believe me when I tell them I'll punish every single one of them if they don't shut their traps asap.

Don't worry about it. When my mom was getting certified they kept getting on to her for various little things.... one was that her classroom was "drab," and they wanted her to put up posters and bright colors to engage the children.

She had no authority to put anything up on the walls because she was teaching at a private school. It was pretty funny.

She's a great teacher, from what I hear, and in fact the other English teachers ended up abandoning their templates to use the schedules and exercises that she developed as soon as she became head of the English department.

So don't worry about it. Just be yourself.

Take it from someone whose face is far too open, having a pokerface can be useful. I also tend to frown when I'm thinking. I've had all sort of people, including teachers, telling me or asking why I look so angry. I'm not angry, but I will be if you keep asking! It got old fast.

GAH I do the exact same thing. Or when my face is just blank, i.e. I'm relaxed and not smiling, I look pretty angry. I don't know why. Also when I'm really focusing on someone, I look like I'm angry.

My old karate teacher used to get on to me for it all of the time. He'd be like, "Every time I give you a correction you look so angry. You have a poor attitude for criticism." And I was like... what the frizz? I'm not angry at all, I'm just listening to you and thinking about what you said. He never believed me.

Just saw As Good As It Gets. Such a good movie! The end, where Jack tells Helen how it makes him feel so special that he's the only one who realizes that she's the most wonderful woman in the world? Massive, massive sigh from me. And she had such beautiful skin in there.

Now I'm feelin' kinda lonely, though. Maybe I should avoid romcoms.
