It's funny that you don't realise how deeply you are despairing until the moment you get that faint glimmer of hope. It's a faint hope, maybe an idle hope but I intend to cling to it for all it's worth. It's still like deciding between say, selling Bag's End to the Sackville-Baggins, knowing you'll be cheated out of a fair price, or keeping Bag's End and knowing the Scourging is going to come and you'll end up evicted anyhow.

But it's... nice to have some hope again.

Alas, the time for good choices is long, long passed. Difficult choices rarely have good options. Frankly I'm glad to have the choice even if it's about the lesser of two evils, because up until recently even that choice seems unexistant.

But it's nice to be out in the sunshine for a while and looking back, only now realising how dark the tunnel was I just crawled out of. Thanks for the hugs.

Number 1 son (and, yeah, they do say that in Chinese) heads off to university tomorrow- got accepted to a decent college, originally established by Methodist missionaries

, the equivalent of a small liberal arts college.

And he's majoring in philosophy, my first love, before I found out I was more suited to wallowing in the mud of earthly events than soaring on wings of eagles.

So I've been brushing up, hoping to avoid those rolled eyes and patient sighs of him humoring the old man when I try to discuss his studies with him during the holidays.
