The Spiderwick Chronicles. 'Tis was ok. Haven't read the books, so I don't know how faithful an adaption it is, but the movie wasn't something I'd buy on DVD or re-watch anytime soon. Enjoyable enough though.

Is that the one with the toad-pirates? I think I saw a part of a trailer.

Well, I think the toad pirates were supposed to be goblins, but yeah, that sounds like it.

Leatherheads. It left a teensy bit to be desired in the way of movie-making, but was very enjoyable. I loved the costumes and the sets: amazing. It was laugh-out-loud funny in many parts, and the plot and premise concerning the beginnings of pro-football was very interesting.

Lots. And as squeamish of blood as you are, I really don't recommend for you to see it.

Just re-watched Life is Beautiful with my husband and oldest son (husband's 2nd watch of movie; son's first). It starts off so nutty and cheesy (hmm, food, anyone?) and I could see my son thinking "what a stupid movie!", then gets really funny and he got interested, then of course ...
It's a good movie with some good and interesting themes - I wanted him to see it. We watched the English-dubbed version, but personally, I kinda like the subtitles and hearing the Italian.

Just like heaven... I love the gardens I saw in that film! And liked the film itself too
La Vita e Bella is so sad! But I only saw the later parts and never the beginning. Reading Rian's comment makes me think that maybe I shouldn't have bothered with the ending and just watch the beginning... >_<

Ah, La Vita e Bella! Beautiful movie! I love it, definitely close to the top of my list. In Italian, it's simply amazing. Mari, you definitely should watch the whole movie. The beginning is very sweet and a good counterpoint for the last part.

You definitely need to watch the whole movie, Mari - both halves are very important and tie the movie together. And one of the major points is that we can make beauty in the midst of the sadness. Very LOTR, IMO.

Yeah, my cousin has been trying to force me to watch it several times now and I tend to get rather stubborn (or perhaps obstinate is the better word) when people try to force me into something...
I'll put it on the list though, if you say I need to watch it again. Somehow I value your opinions more than that of my beloved cousin Please tell me one thing though (as I didn't see the exact ending either): did it have a happy ending?

I would call it a bittersweet ending. One very sad thing but some happy things, too.
