Nice! I especially love the picture of St. Isaac's Cathedral, the one with the light rays streaming past it. Very cool effect!

My friend in the botanical garden in Saint Petersburg.. Our guide at the Mannerheim line: an American who studies history at the university of Saint Petersburg. He wore the equipment the Soviet soldiers wore in the wars against Finland. Here he's standing next to a monument to the 204 unknown Finnish soldiers who died there. Detail of a Finnish bunker (now on the Russian side). That's it for a while, folks.. I think. X)

Okay, I said I'd leave you alone for a while.. But then I found these as I was looking for ants:
That's Lacerta vivipara for you people.. The common or viviparous lizard, one of the two lizard species found in Finland (the other one is the slow worm, Anguis fragilis). I found this in the shade, close to the ground, so it was really slow and I had the time to run to the car to get my camera (I'm doing fieldwork now). This is one of those situations where I really wish I had a decent camera.

Nice photos, E, LoR! I especially like the light in the last one.
Here are some more from this field season.. Sorting ants in the sun whilst drinking wine.. Horrible, horrible job I have. (The European) Peacock, Inachis io A wolf spider we found while collecting ants.. .. And ants, of the Rufa-group (mound-building ants).
