Húrin still wins that one, by far.

Debating in the fangirl thread!

Is it even allowed?

It might have been mostly due to their own actions, but IMHO the House of Fëanor was destroyed as utterly and terribly as the House of Hurin...

And Hurin never threw himself into a chasm of fire...

And thus his terrible life was ended. Hurin didn't have the chance to do that when he really wanted to. He had to suffer through it all.

Hm. Maedhros didn't have a chance when he really wanted to either...

And then Thorondor came.

This is sad. Very sad. Debating in this thread. Sad, sad, sad, sad, sad.......

[edited] Nah. But he did see them die and several practically murder their own cousin.

You're delusional.

I say the cold must be getting to you, Pytt...

Though... he's a better choice than some others I've heard...

*cough* Fëanor *cough*

Nice avvie, btw, considering...

Thorondor didn't help either that much. What has he got to do with this?

Who is that post addressed to, me or Pytt?

Thorondor helps a lot, I must say. I wouldn't put him in the same category of any of the Elves we've been mentioning (wait, no... that's not true. I'd put him above Fëanor or Thingol... ) let alone Finrod, but...

He's not all that bad. And he is a guy... sort of...

Oh, and he helped Fingon rescue Maedhros btw, for better or for worse...

I asked you. You said:

Thorondor didn't help Hurin's in the same way that he helped Maedhros. And you are trying to convince me that Maedhros' life was just as tough as Hurin's, aren't you?

Btw Pytt, yes, Thorondor is the Eagle !

Oh! Sorry, I know Thorondor didn't help Hurin! Well... actually, didn't eagles bring him to Gondolin in the first place? Not important...

So I was in a circuitous way reminding you that he had begged Fingon to kill him... but then Thorondor came...

Hurin lived only in a time of war. He never had lasting peace - Maedhros lived for a very long time happily in Valinor.

H was in Morgoth's captivity a lot longer than M.

H lost his entire family - M didn't.

When M wanted to kill himself, he could have - H couln't.

I'd say that H had a worse life.

btw, yes, the Eagles did tade Hurin to Gondolin

You are correct. We all know the huge amounts of orcs that were constantly rampaging through Gondolin.

eh...date's my friend. I don't have the Annals of Beleriand... but this could be true. Though... time isn't everything.

Maglor wanders in grief forevermore. At least 4 of his other brothers are killed in battle against fellow Elves. The last one... well, debatable. Burning alive doesn't seem too nice. Father's dead. Grandfather's dead. Almost all cousins, dead. One uncle dead. Almost everyone else in Valinor...

Would Hurin have killed himself? I always got the feeling that he was more noble than that.

I know. And I'll keep on coming up with more and more ridiculous arguments to beat you into submission

Which is pathetic... seeing as how he isn't even my favourite character...

Though... I'm not crazy enough to start arguing that Finrod had a completely hellish life...

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

You take Fëanor if you want, though I can't see the appeal of a psychopathic, murderous b*stard...

As for myself... Well, SGH isn't here right now...

So I've got Finrod all to myself until dinnertime. Yum.

*drools*

Hmmm... But then, none of the ladies answered the pertinent question about Hurin.

Was he indeed, "hawt"?

The man who carved through the entire troll bodyguard of Gothmog, Morgoth's captain, Single handed, with a battle-axe....

See, that's what I wonder about. Guys admire things like that, but does it even go on the female "hawt" axis?

Personally, I prefer Tuor and his battle axe ...

I admire Hurin a lot, esp. from the Lay of the Children of Hurin where he defies Morgoth, but Tuor's the man for me - I love how passionate he is about Idril and Earendil in the Fall of Gondolin ... Hurin is just almost too "business-like" for me. Tuor is passionate about Idril ... AND rocks with his battle axe! *goes off into a reverie*

Personally, I'd take a harp over a battle-axe anyday.

And, eh... Hurin spawned Turin.

That's a big turnoff for me.

And I'm taken.

So, self centered offspring cursed by Morgoth is a no-no....
