Christmas is so depressing. There is too much hype and it ends up being boring and dissapointing.

For the longest time I had the problem of getting all excited, and then feeling incredibly let down come Christmas morning. I actually cried a few times because I felt so let down.

Then about... I guess four years ago I realized that I had to change that. I thought about how silly all of the Christmas rush was, and about how people put the focus on 'giving till it hurts', and also on getting expensive things. I thought for a long time about how I could make Christmas a productive time... and the answer I reached is rather private, but the main core is basically that I turned it into a time to reflect on the things and people I love.

Some of those people I can't be with, and I haven't seen in years. But I think back on the time I spent with them, and hope for more happy times with them some day in the future... there are a lot of people I wish I could see this Christmas. But I can't, so I think about them. Or if I know I'll never see them again... well there it gets private, but... I think about them

I consider Christmas day to be a kind of new birth for me in a way that my Birthday isn't. I think about the old me, and the new me, along with all of the other people and memories that I think about. And other things. But those I can't put in words.

Do try to enjoy Christmas

I've finally spent every cent,

so that is it...hope nobody cries after all that!

Today is the best day.....my mother-in-law will make the christmas eve dinner...so I actually don't have to cook! Tomorrow is my turn....too bad "Santa" can't bring me a nice kitchen!

When I think back to my childhood Christmases in the early 60's, it seems I always got a new barbie, and a new slip.....slips....haven't bothered with one in years! Seems like they were always "showing".....

Ah, slips are nice costume pieces. I guess I have a costume fetish because somtimes I just HAVE to dress up perfectly for no reason.

Christmas has always been about the food, but lately I've stopped eating a lot so I don't know if I can enjoy myself this year.

Christmas is always tedious. There are always too many places to go and not enough real interaction.

GAR! Okay, I'll stop b*tching about christmas now.

Anyway I enjoy christmas, this year however I haven't been very exited about it...

Probubly because it's my first christmas in washington - were it's not even expected to snow

And from me- spent a lovely Christmas Eve - called "Peaceful Night" in Chinese- at the Taiwanese Aboriginal Catholic Church- great hearing Luke read out in Chinese and Amis (my wife's native tongue- her family is Catholic) with a Nativity done in native costumes.
