Thanks! But first, a non-trivia question: what is petem?

OK, here's the "official" question: what are the only two metal implements we see at Beorn's place?

Gandalf

Yes, he never explained the "Petem" mystery!

How about an ax, and the knives they used for eating?

I have no time to answer your question Lizra, but Petem is cram as cram is petem. "petem" is probably a hebrew transltion. orry. but she did guess well.

Two to four feet tall although nowadays they rarely grow to be over three feet tall? I can't remember if that description is from "The Hobbit" or from the introduction to "Lord of the Rings" (or neither) and I don't have my book down here to check.

Yay! OK, I hope this hasn't been asked already, but without peeking, name four things to eat and three to drink that you would have found in Bilbo's pantry on the day of the unexpected party.

drink - tea, wine, coffe. eat - silvery cake (the right word I hope), butter biscuits, cheese, salad. There were more but you asked for three drinks and four types of food.

Well, the silvery cake is probably the same as the seed cake, and the buttery biscuits are probably the same as the buttered scones (as an American, I'm not even sure whether the other biscuits mentioned -- Bilbo nibbled one while sitting at the fireside -- weren't cookies); technically, it was red wine, but who's fussy?

Your turn, Radagast. And please pass the porter.
