I think I'll join you folks by the fire. In fact, the fire's already going in the fireplace, sitting here typing on my laptop with Amy trying to keep warm and not run up the heating bill.

I'm adapting to it...slowly...while Natalie is adapting to stealing spoons and using them as catapults to fire food at people. And she has great marksmanship! Robert likes to toss anything he finds, usually at targets that I don't like to be hit. So basically, they're ballistics experts already...I think Amy taught them that though. And they like to terrorize the cats...but the one cat just sits there and accepts it. The cat has that look on its face like "how do I get the feeling I'm going to be meowing to a therapist about this one day?"

But they're not as out of control as I thought they'd be. What I mean by that is, they're nothing like me! I do think they get the ballistics stuff from me though, although they seemed to have learned it from Amy.

They're a lot of fun though, but sometimes I retreat to my Castle Keep on the third floor, and fortunately it seems to be mostly sound-proof...mostly. When the basement's fully completed, that will be what I call my "catacombs" and that will be an even better retreat.

3 AM last night I found that Amy had covered herself with pillows because the kids were crying a lot. It was probably one of the more difficult nights. Trying to sleep seems to be the most stressful part of any of this, and though I expected it, I have lost a lot of sleep. Fortunately, I can go 36 hours without sleep and still have some steam left. If I don't get to sleep by 4 AM, I usually just forget sleep and say...well...I'll fall asleep once I'm back from work. Anyone will fall asleep after they're tired enough, even with a bunch of noise going on. That's what I've found anyway.

That's good to hear. Is Amy okay as well? My cousin gave birth to her first on December 30th, but she has so many healthproblems at the moment that no one can go and visit her.

I'm sorry to hear your cousin has a lot of health problems. Yea, it is pretty rough to have that on top of everything else.

Amy was really out of it for a couple of weeks. She's healed a good bit since and has had treatments for various things to get her somewhat back to normal. These things can take a while.

I know how it feels to be out of it. I had intestinal pains several times in my life that were enough to drive even the most sane person mad. After those I'm usually in absolute disrepair for a few days following, mainly because of pain medications. For some reason it takes a lot more pain medicine for me to be cleared of pain. They used powerful stuff and it really didn't make much difference with the first couple of applications. The third puts me out completely though. I don't dream, it's not really sleep. I compare it to being in a coma, but apparently people in a coma dream. I guess a better analogy would be like being in surgery, where you're just out completely, with little brain activity going on, and believe me, I'd prefer that compared to the pains I get. I'd prefer almost anything to those pains. I dread getting that again. It's some type of irritable bowel syndrome, likely from a catastrophic injury I had there that never quite healed, or didn't heal correctly.

Anyway, things are going good it seems. Amy seems to have a lot of energy and recovered quickly compared to what I would have expected. For her first being twins, it's quite incredible that she's not still out of it. She takes vitamins too, so that may contribute. Vitamins react in different ways with different people. By contrast, there's almost no medicine or normal illness that affects me. I had a strain of pneumonia a few years ago that I didn't have treated, but got over it in a couple of days. But things like pain medication have little effect. Tylenol doesn't do much for headaches for me. But I've been starting to take vitamins and I've noticed some amount of difference. So maybe staying away from medicine and just going with vitamins and natural medications is the best way.
