Reading a novel called "Sarum: A Novel of England" by Edward Rutherford. It traces the (fictional, but based on fact) history of the Sarum area near stonehenge, from ice age days to modern days. Cool concept.

Having just finished The Curious Incident with the Dog in the Night Time by Mark Haddon I'm now wrapping up China Miéville's Perdido Street Station. Brilliant read, actually, Miéville's a brilliant writer, though the plot isn't always that interesting; the characters, setting and writing are so good it's hard to take any notice.

Then planning to take a stroll through Horace's Odes, and then perhaps reread some Pratchett.

I'm reading 100 years loneliness by Gabriel Garci Marques. It's great! I don't manage to keep the characters from each other completley, but it's a very nice read.

I'm also reading Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson. It's cool, though I haven't gotten far. Maybe I read American Goods by Neil Gaiman instead.

I have few pages left in The Mark Man the Left Behind series has me hooked. I only have about 5 or 6 books left. I recomend them. Very intense.

RED STAR ROGUE by Kenneth Sewell with Clint Richmond. A most-probable explanation of a failed nuclear missile launch/attack by a rogue Russian nuclear sub against Hawaii, on 7 March 1968. Very interesting data and analysis and interpretation. A really good Halloween read for those who like their horror on the nuclear side of life!

The title sounds more like a Star Wars novel

I just finished C.S. Lewis' "The Four Loves". Very good stuff, especially the chapter about friendship. I think I'm going to have to read it again to really know what some stuff meant...

I'm reading 'If On A Winter's Night A Traveller', by someone called Calvino, and also a collection of detective stories by Satyajit Ray (sp?). The first one is rather interesting, its like a tutorial on how to read books...

Also reading a book by Robert Ludlum called the Materese Circle. But I only just started that one..

Found myself a copy of Genji Monogatari in english at Haneda Airport in Tokyo. Bought it, even though I had already spent way too much money on souveneirs. I`m getting into it, actually. It`s about as good as I hoped it would be- it was expensive since it was a really nice copy with two volumes in a nice box with some nice illustrations and it`s really long so, I was worried it would suck and I would be short [beep] yen. Murasaki Shikibu, who wrote the book, seems like she was a pretty amazing lady. She lived in the Heinan Era of Japan, from about AD 800 to 1200. In that day, women were discouraged from learning how to write, as it was considered too rough and manly an endeavor. Certainly, it must have been hard back then, even more so than now (ever tried learning kanji?). But Murasaki was a quick learner and, thought she kept it quiet for a while, learned to read and write. Now, the kids at my high school all study her famous novel, Genji Monogatari. It`s about the a prince named Hikaru Genji and his life and various love interests. There`s lots of fun poetry too.

RED STAR ROGUE is an exploration of the data now available and inferences regarding the probable attempted assault by a Russian nuclear sub in 1968 against Pearl Harbor. reading The Stupidest Angel by christopher moore. i read lamb and it was hysterical-albeit rather irreverent- and so far this one is almost as awesome!

Attempting to read the book that the drama "Nobuta wo Produce" was based on. It`s actually really good. I wonder if it`s ever been translated into English. It`s about a guy, Shuuji, and how he "produces" this girl, which means to make someone popular or liked or something. The views on society and life that Shuuji has are interesting though.
