Royal Navy sinking the French Fleet? Well better safe than sorry. My great uncle's ship damaged the Clemenceau, I think.

Take your pick! One through Eastern Europe under the Germans, one in the Phillipines under the Japanese.

Completely correct on my intended answers on no's 1 and 3, but as you pointed out (and I apologise for not being more specific) it could have been any one of them, but I was thinking of the Bataan Death March.
