The yellow one is called the eyelash viper and the one right after that is the horned viper. The last one is a snout cobra. My name is Hannele, yes. ^^ Thank you, once again!

I visited Saint Petersburg, Russia, last weeked. So here are some photos from The Place.
if I'd believe in a god, I would've found him in St. Petersburg. this is from the central square, that's peter the great (angel) stepping on a snake that is supposed to have the face of napoleon. inside the church of the resurrection of jesus christ, more commonly known as the church on (spilt) blood, as it was here alexander II was fatally wounded. once again, if i would believe in a god.. cinderella arriving at the hermitage..

I have wanted to go to St Petersburg. Do you think it's a place worth visiting? Is there much to see?
Nice pictures! The angel pic is cool.

I find it interesting to see a Christian monument (cross) in St. Petersberg. I mean despite the name of the city. Didn't it used to be Stalingrad? I thought Comrade Index-Card would have removed all traces of Christianity, and even with the time they've had since, I find it odd that everything has taken on such an aged look.
IOW...Looks good.

It used to be Petrograd and later Leningrad, but Stalingrad was an entirely different city. I think the communists were very aware of the cultural value of their magnificent monuments, statues, churches etc. even if they happened to have connections with Christianity. They didn't want to erase their culture and historical landmarks.

People are often surprised that (ex) communist countries have culture. Wonder why?
Groovy pics, nerdanel. I'd love to visit Russia, esp the baltic area such as St Petersburg. Can't see it happening soon unless we get a client there |

.. I'll just continue. These are some views from inside the church on spilt blood in Saint Petersburg. (edit: for those who don't know, it's an orthodox church)

Nerdanel, you're an excellent photographer, bella. The composition of all of these pictures is gorgeous, and the colour & lighting as well, except the 3rd pic is a bit dark. What kind of camera & equipment do you use? These are magazine-worthy shots, you know; even the picture of your friend sitting & reading, beautiful work, great photos. Just stunning.
