Indeed this is a momentous day. Both Brownjenkins and Rohirrim TR and I agree on the same subject.

Now the rest of you get in line.

Too bad Mr. Nuckols employs non-words like "evolutionist", but the Primordial Soup one was funny.

On a serious note, anomalies (in DNA?) don't mean ToE is a bad theory, since random mutation is part of the theory!

Cosmogony and cosmology have always aroused great interest among peoples and religions. The Bible itself speaks to us of the origin of the universe and its make-up, not in order to provide us with a scientific treatise, but in order to state the correct relationships of man with God and with the universe. Sacred Scripture wishes simply to declare that the world was created by God, and in order to teach this truth it expresses itself in the terms of the cosmology in use at the time of the writer. The Sacred Book likewise wishes to tell men that the world was not created as the seat of the gods, as was taught by other cosmogonies and cosmologies, but was rather created for the service of man and the glory of God. Any other teaching about the origin and make-up of the universe is alien to the intentions of the Bible, which does not wish to teach how heaven was made but how one goes to heaven.
~ Pope John Paul II, 3 October 1981 to the Pontifical Academy of Sciences, "Cosmology and Fundamental Physics"

Nice post. So once again even the Pope himself believes that the bible is not a science book and shouldnt be taken as such. It has a much different purpose. Good to know open minds exist at the highest levels of The Church...

who claims the the bible is science book? not me. not anyone on the moot that i know of, the study of origins is unscientific by virtue of the lack of witnessess or conclusive proof for either side, there aren't any scientific books about origins

A science book on ... well, let it tell you itself what it is on.

Note, I don't necessarily say a CORRECT book. But a SCIENCE book, by Jove, it is.

time to repeat myself:

Quote:
Science is both a body of knowledge and a set of processes for advancing that knowledge. More specifically, science is mankind's interconnected, internally consistent, growing body of knowledge about natural and man-made objects and phenomena of the past, present, and future; a body of knowledge that is based on repeatable experimentation with, or observation of, these natural and man-made objects and phenomena, that is organized and extended using logic and mathematics, and that is validated by the testing of hypotheses.
