Ain't wanting to be a pedant Spock, but Frodo wanted to stay at the Floating Log on his second night in the Shire. They had already stayed at the new building by the Bridge over the Brandywine ("on the far side of the river" so within the Shire) on their first night in the Shire, hence my confusion.
