DPR has the correct corrections.
The last, '/_i_l_i_/', is a regular word, but Beorn is using it a bit tongue-in-cheek. It's a description, not a name, and you wouldn't usually say it about a person.

That's as much of a hint as I guess you'll need ...

Not at all. It just so happens that the remaining letters are symmetrical.

It's a kind of compound word - it doesn't use a hyphen, but if it did, it would be '/_i_/-/l_i_/'.

Beorn is referring to the one that was lost, only this time using a different word for it, and a word that isn't ordinarily used about persons.

OK - I was thinking about what other word he might use for a Hobbit - without thinking about what might be used for lost:

mislaid?

About the only things I could come up with for the second half were 'laid' or 'lain' - the first half I just couldn't work out. But then, I was thinking the wrong direction.
