Not sure I've got the hang of this but:

The witch queen person in the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe?

Boudicca? (though even allowing for poetic licence she wasn't an Angle!)

Joan of Arc?

Waterloo - so the Generals would be Wellington, Blucher and Napoleon?

WWII Faliure to notice: Those killer hedgerows (not sure if that translates right) in the german/european countrysides, never knew WHO was behind them.

WWII Battlefield near river: Blitz over the river Rhine? There were a few massacres around that area.

WWII FTN 1: Sorry, that I wasn't more specific. I was thinking of the Burmese jungle which the Japanese just streamed through and caught the British Army in the rear. But your suggestion was just as good.

Famous WWI battlefield was near the Somme.

Arnhem? Actually a strategically correct move that was just plain unlucky...

Macarthur counter-attacking at Inchon rather than defending Seoul as expected.

The Maginot Line outflanked by the panzer thrust through the Ardennes

The Bismark, sunk HMS Hood before being sunk itself

The Tirpitz, damaged by the more-or-less suicidal X-Craft then finished off by Lancasters
