Second attempt at the first part:

You're doing great, Varna! All correct except two wrong words in your next-to-last line. Neither "if" nor "then" is correct in that line.



I don't know if I ever noticed until typing for this quote that the little ditty "Cold is the life..." actually rhymes!

'of' and 'tied' instead of 'if' and 'then' will make more sense. But I still haven't worked out the missing words, although it should be easier if I
don't have them in the wrong context any more.

So what mariner are we talking about here? My first thought was Tuor, but there's no situation I can think of where he might say anything like this.

But there is a mariner in Numenor, a Prince, later to become King, who might express such sentiments. Would the speaker be Aldarion?

I thought to say as well in my previous post, but I seem to say that a lot in this game and the last word remains elusive an equal number of times that after a while even I don't believe myself anymore.

From the context I thought, "Isn't there an English word for the strip of land which is close to the sea? Beach? But that doesn't have the right letters!"
Don't know how 'shore' could elude me there
