It would have been on youtube, since the only chanson CDs I have are of Piaf herself. Like I said, female, 20s or 30s . . . I feel like one of her names might have started with M, but I may just be confusing her with Mireille Mathieu.

It would not by any chance be this young lady, would it?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KRmZle2-9gs I've been watching her videos for a while. She doesn't do only french music, and in fact is more pop than anything which is why I think she's probably not the right one, but I figure it's worth a shot. Anyways... she's very musical. I love her stuff. |

I'm pretty sure the one I'm thinking of is singing professionally; though I have seen some of this gel's videos before too, and I do quite like her, too. Plus, she's rather good-looking.
EDIT: Now I'm enjoying her Somewhere Over the Rainbow.

****!!! THIS SUCKS! My favorite radio station went off air and got changed to this b.s. genx pop-rock, softcore-theme-song garbage! Least I got pandora now... renders my car radio obsolete now that they killed my last listened to land based station. I am sad...

I lost one of my favorite stations over the summer as well. Old-style free music seems to be a dying medium.

My computer had a brief psychotic disorder. Its most remarkable feat was to launch a fatal strike against Firefox - killing off all of my bookmarks, settings and add-ons and making the browser irreversibly revert itself back to default. Nothing left to salvage.
The loss of my bookmarks is a tragedy.

Ouch!
I'm once again very glad I've got mine back-upped. Donkey, stone and no second time and all that such. Oh wait, I don't think that's quite the same expression in English... Luckily for me, the first time my computer went crazy and ate firefox it was still early days and my bookmarks were but few in number.

Can't you go to that one folder and find backups of your bookmark files? >.> I can't remember, but I've done that before when my browser reset itself.

*grumble* I finally found a book I had been looking for for some time in a second-hand bookshop. So this weekend I'm snuggly on my bed with a cup of tea to enjoy the book. But while I'm reading, I start to notice an unpleasant smell. The book just reeks of sigarette smoke and the heavy stench wafts off every page. Totally ruined the experience. Gah! Who does that to his books?!

Supposedly sodium bicarbonate, ie baking soda, can remove odours from books.

Hey, that's interesting. Thanks, must look into that. May be more effective than my vague plan of putting parfumed tissues between the pages...

My throat is really sore and my voice is gone, which is frustrating because I was working so hard on my voice.
But I'm more concerned about the fact that the other day I was holding my grandmother's hand for about four hours. She's doing better, but I'm hoping I didn't give her anything. I think it's just my allergies draining stuff down my throat, but I'm thinking now that I better let my dad know and see if he thinks we need to let the doctors know that a potentially sick person was in contact with her. |

Though, the really sore throat suggests a virus rather than vocal misuse. Hope you recover quickly! It's surely very annoying for a songbird like you Hope your grandmother's doing okay too.

Apparently my grandmother is on all sorts of antibiotics already so no fear of her catching what I have. Massive relief to find that out. Actually interestingly enough it was some sort of bug that's going around. My throat was really sore yesterday, although it wasn't before, and today it isn't sore either. The Dr. said the soreness yesterday might've been allergies, but that overall it is some sort of URI unrelated to allergies. So I'm on a z-pack and fingers crossed that I'll be better soon. |

I am so incredibly pissed off right now. For the past 6 months I've been trying to get the phone company to rectify THEIR mistakes, resulting in them blocking my phone twice, disconnecting me, having me pay for 2 phonenumbers while I'm obviously only using one and making me have to call and write and email them several times a month (quite a costly business I assure you).
Last time I called I finally had someone intelligent answer the phone who managed to sort out the problems in 5 minutes, even resulting in me receiving an email saying they'll repay me the months I paid double... But now I just received another disconnection notice "at my request". Nooooo, I requested you to FIX the problems, not to DISCONNECT me! And trust me, even in Dutch those two words look nothing alike. ARGH! *composes another venomous email in her head*

So. I've been trying to watch the TV show Heroes recently. It's like their favorite cliffhanger is the one where you end the show with Guy X (who was a good guy) pulling off his mask and suddenly he is working for the other team. AND you also have Gal B, who was evil, on the good side.
The whole "I'm dead, now I'm not" thing keeps recurring also. It's like they can't think of anything better than extreme switches for plot points in this series. *sigh*

I seem to be coming down with a cold, for the first time in years. *stocks up on tea and orange*

I'm sad because the wife of a friend from my other forum died of cancer. He posted a message about it today.
