well, because i know you're all sooo interested in my opinions, i just got home from "The Bucket List", and it was amazingly good. so, i'm gonna pull a Spinal Tap and give it an 11 out of 10 rating for goodness, and advise everyone to see it.

Thanks, DB, but no. Jack Nicholson annoys the paint off me, anyway, and i find the premise offensive.

I tried playing DDR tonight.

O.o OMG that's so freakin' difficult!!!!!!!! You can't just hop on and do it, it takes practice. At least so I assume... I watched a bunch of the guys just... friggin'... bunny hopping all over that pad, but they'd practiced for hours at home apparently. I could barely follow the arrows and move my feet to the right arrow on the pad .

I liked Bucket List very much, however I think I can see why someone has problems with the concept.
DDR... wasn't that the dancing thing? I tried that in Japan... I was very, very bad at it.

It sets up life as a series of notches in the bedpost. kwim?

I've known quite a few people nearing death, and even more old people. None of them faced death by running off to Rio. Instead, they called relatives they hadn't spoken to in years, let their spouses know they were NOT cooking Christmas dinner this year, but they'd be happy to eat it, and threw out the pan with only one handle that had been cluttering up their cabinets for 30 years. They called on their pastors, they admired their grandchildren.

I think it's quintessentially young person's POV (particularly if that young person is a baby boomer) to feel that old age is yet ANOTHER excuse for "me time." If you've lived a long life, lost your old friends, maybe a child or two, you face death knowing that it's not your memories that count, but the memories you leave behind. That's been my experience of it, anyway.

I'm sure Morgan Freeman is funny, sky-diving. But I'd be willing to bet that when it's his time to go, he'll be home, visiting with his extended family.

Not sure if it's a spoiler, but it's my first opportunity for using the tags...
Then you'll be happy to know that he was home when he died, as was Jack.

I think you might like the movie and it's main point, really!
(the next one is definitely a spoiler!)
The movie really wasn't about getting away from your family when you find out you're dying, but about being with your family and being together. That's the lesson the rich guy too, learned from the poor guy.

Plus, Morgan Freeman is great!

Morgan Freeman is great, and a gentleman, in person. I had the opportunity to meet him.

Also, just for anyone's reference, the spoilers disappear when the quote function is used.

Hmm, yeah he does seem like one indeed, though impressions can deceive off course. Do you have the opportunity to meet more or less famous people more often, or was this just a one timer?

Did you just found that last one out when trying to quote me?

I've met (and occasionally worked with) famous people in a couple of contexts... working in the theatre and politics. Some people are more about being met than others. Mr. Freeman I just met by chance, happening to be at the same occasion. I'm certain he would have NO idea who I am, lol, but that was part of my impression. I was with people who knew him better (and thought highly of him) but he was cordial to strangers, and lots of people, famous or not, aren't.

Hey Tessar, I have that game for Wii, and you have to do hands as well as feet. It is so fun once you get the hang of it!
