Colloquials are not just as bad, yew dolt. They are an accepted form of speech; inferior to proper English, but with their own charm.

Maturer-wise is just dumb.

You won't even know what colloquials are until you come and visit Tennessee....takes about five minutes to process the mumbo jumbo, and about ten seconds to realize what it means...that might go for Louisiana too...

Over there in California, you don't have the thick accent thing. You all sound like Beach Boys....

We have a hill-billy accent in Missouri. "We" not including "me".

Well, same here....I never acquired an accent because I never stayed in one state long enough during my vulnerable years...

I'm assuming you accept the Beach Boys stereotyping?

No, I do not speak like a Beach Boy. In fact, Californians as a whole do not. Only those from certain areas, and certain age groups. And I've only been in CA a little over a year (gods, is it that long? ), not long enough to pick up the accent.

You might NOT pick it up at all...

...there was a time when we use to live around Amish, and I think the accents there were starting to weigh on us all... ...not permanent though

Yes, of course not. I lived in rural Missouri for about 6 years, and didn't pick up the accent; plus, in college, you are just too constantly exposed to different accents to pick up the local one.

Im of the opinion that Sweden is the most Overpoliticized country in the whole world - for the last 12 years Oldspapers, radio and tv have been nagging about the forthcoming election - the mere word makes me cringe - and then we have the one-item-at-a time mentality of the Establishment which I find even more annoying - Ive stopped reading the papers, listening to the radio and watching tv (that is the Swedish state-run tv and radio) - and don't get me started on the corps of the Journalists who have all graduated from the Communist High School (really called the Journalist High School). Im sick and tired of it all - Next to Cuba, North Korea and China Sweden comes a close fourth in the list of politicomaniacal countries.

Well, you know how I get by? Even at the worst times of government, I can get through the day with the thought, "At least I don't live in a country whose government was designed by me." It's a very helpful thought.

I think what Merry Brandybuck just said in the cafe resembles the legal system I'd integrate into my ideal society.

Oh, you're having an upcoming election too, eh? Our politicians have been upping their whining for the last few months. All this criticism on other politicians, all these sudden attempts to gain the voters' attention with bold and stirring-up comments which you would never hear when there wasn't an election due and which they're likely never to follow up. Lyin' con-men, the lot of them. I don't know one decent politician to vote for, just like every election, oh this'll be fun...

No, we've had our election a few days ago and the opposition (centre-right) won. So things will change over the next four years.

Btw Grey Wolf, I strongly disagree that things are that bad over here . Wow, I hope you didn't end up voting for any of those parties of discontent, did you?
