In his honor, they now hold the International Van Cliburn Competition, appropriately in Texas ( I believe).

Yes, in Texas; Van Cliburn was a dyed-in-the-wool Texan man through & through.

What I'm listening to right now: Yehudi Menuhin, he makes his violin speak, makes it say all manner of things deep and true about all the wild and the yearning of human emotions. Tchaikovsky's Serenade Melancholique, Opus 26.

Well he's someone I'm proud of, even though his fame was way before me.

Europeans still can't grasp the idea that American artists are just as good as they are.

Go Cleveland, Boston, and Chicago!...and those aren't sports teams.

This Sunday my schools' choirs are combining to sing the Divorak Te Deum and Brahm's Rhapsody. We've got some really good soloists .

Hey! The Dvorak Te Deum is a really great piece. One of his best. You should check out the Robert Shaw/Atlanta Orch & Chorus CD on Telarc. Great stuff.

You mean you missed the thread 'new moderator' in GM? You're slacking, hector.

There's this short classical piece used in an advert I'm trying to pinpoint. We think it's probably from the Four Seasons, but dad thinks it must be part of Summer, when I still think it fits Spring. The thing is, I haven't found it yet. Gah, the uncertainty!

Aside from that there's really no problem with listening to the Four Seasons again and again. But if I can't find it here, it may not have been part of it in the first place and then I'll never identify it and I know I recognize it, but what is it?! Why must there be so many good classical pieces? and why do I have to have such a bad memory for their names? I'm hopeless.
