A movie was made of one his most famous books about a Lady who takes a shine to her garderner. Does that help?

Also, since apparently we don't have to actually guess all the answers to move on to the next author, how exactly does that work?

Well, Gwai. I only added a new author because apparently DH Lawrence wasnt an all that well-known among you mooters (not enough to unclue the lot).

So if u want take a shot at last ones of DHL, do try. And then go for the next one. And btw, 424 is a single word for a grouping of ppl. Have edited in alternate clue.
