I didn't think that he wanted to offend me, I just wanted to make clear that it doesn't matter to me what any non-tolkien-fan might think of the names of my children.
So if it seemed upset, it was not, as you are all Tolkien fans like me.

That's good. So we can all do what we want because we're fellow Tolkien fans?

True....
Yes, I suppose that must be true. We ARE all Tolkien fans, so we do what we must and come and go as we please

I mean people already laugh about my obsession with Tolkien and I don't mind. So why should I mind what they are saying about the names of my children.
Okay, the names shouldn't sound to weird because then the other kids at school would make fun of my children. That would be bad. Nothing like Pumukel or Jar Jar Bings.

Yeah sorry Lalaith I didn't mean you in particular. Just that a lot of names for the Rohirrim might be more easily recognized because they only a slightly varied version of early Anglo-Saxon.

I'd like to pick really unusual names just to make people ask me about them. I'd know who was a Tolkien fan cause they would recognize the name
But I don't think I could do that to my future kids. Not to mention what my future husband would think!

Naming My Kids
I MIGHT name my kids after LOTR characters! IF my husband was a HUGE Tolkien fan, as well I might not name them something TOO weird...but if they had blonde hair I could name them Legolas..or Tom! Like Tom Bombadil! He is cool! I was so mad when I found out he wasn't in the movie

If I ever did end up with kids, then I might consider it. I'd combine LOTR names other fantasy or real-world people.
For a boy, it'd probably be: Gandalf Lindbergh |

I think the names shouldn't be too obvious. No Legolas, Frodo or Gandalf. Something more subtile.

probably, I would do it, but only as a middle name. I wouldn't want my kids to hate Tolkien just because they were teased about their name by other kids...Also, my husband would have to be in full consent...I mean, I still have a while before even thinking of matrimony, but it's a cool thought about naming your kids after Middle Earth characters

My daughters will have Tolkien names, but my son will have normal names (yes names, he will have about 5 names because I have so many favourite names).

I might name girls: Eowyn, Elanor, Niniel, Tinuviel, and boys: Eomer, Samwise, maybe Elessar for a middle name, and there were a few others, but I've forgotten them.

Ian for the first name (not from Ian McKellen, I just like that name)
And Mithrandir for the middle name.

I think Lórien, Goldberry, or Ithilien (Lyn) would be good girls names, but I'm not sure I can think of any good guy's names.
Also I think Stybba's a good name for an animal.

I had 2 budgies once: Bilbo and Froda. Frodo fell off his perch one day, dead as a dodo. Bilbo looked remarkably self satisfied! Wonder to this day what that was about?!
