I know what you mean... When you know what a person's like in reality, you have that image in your head. Like getting a message from a friend and laughing out loud because you know what it would sound like.

Yeah. Similarly, after seeing your picture in the Pic Link thread, my concept of your appearance adjusts after conflicting with reality. Cue "How do you envision..." thread.

I have an interesting question for all. I recently talked to someone on the phone that I chat with from time to time and I noticed after I had talked to them I started to read what they had written differently. Has this happened to anyone else? I mean, would you read this differently if you knew what I sounded like?
Definitely. When I read I tend to 'hear' the words in a higher pitch than it would likely be in reality. Especially if I don't know the age of the person writing or if they're as old or younger than I am.

The way we imagine speech patterns probably also has a lot to do with context that the person is writing in.
When I'm posting here, the way I write is closer to the way I speak, while in a debate thread I try to use a more formal and properly grammatical tone than I would ever manage to speak in.
Does anyone else find themselves adjusting their writing style according to topic?

Without a doubt. Some topics call for a scholarly tone, others encourage a rambling mess of words. Writing, talking, et al.

Okay, confession time.

Normally, Last Shah of Shane, it would be a very exciting thing for you, sitting so close to me. But I am afraid that tonight, I'm just too sleepy. *yawns* G'night.

*retires for the night, leaving Shah to stretch out*

wow I hope things will change soon. Can't you get a student loan? My husband put himself through college on his own, working and going to class and getting student loans. Hard, but he did it.

Wow, he doesn't sound like a very supportive botfriend at all. Three years and your still with him? Love is a strange thing. Makes people crazy. I'm still debating on whether or not love is evil or a blessing. To quote the tootsie pop guy "The world may never know".

*looks through Tessa's wine list*

Ummm, pick us a wine and lets catch a buzz.

Well, hmm. Let's see... let's see... *thinksthinks* I can't seem to be able to choose one right now. Maybe a light Riesling? Something light and flowery for this sunny afternoon?
