Hmm, just had to log back to answer...

#1: 1066 - the winner was William the Conquerer, and the defeated... hmm, Harold?
(I only knew this because I have a British History test today...)

#2: Julius Caesar

#4: Philippos? (or something very similar ) But didn't he run as a herald, to say they won, and then died on the spot?

(Wow. My high-school history teacher can be proud; his lessons had a great impact on me - I still remember things. Hmm.)

Well, about the four men I don't have a clue, but the man and woman... can it be a MUCH more recent event than the previous ones? Namely, the execution of Nicolae and Elena Ceaucescu in 1989? 'Twas the first thing coming into my mind... I might be WAY off...

Edit: and I didn't want a separate post for just saying that I can't figure those four men out... Even with the hint, even after breakfast ( ) my brain just doesn't seem to work any more.

1st - the flag is the star-spangled banner (also a song written by Francis Scott Key) - hence US. Not sure what "mountain-mounted" means. I assume at least 2 were Presidents - "two or more were leader." Seems like there are a lot of options.

Then I actually try to think. Mt. Rushmore. Teddy Roosevelt, Jefferson, Lincoln, Washington?
