So apparently I have what's called Arnold-Chiari Malformation Type I! Fortunately, I don't think it's too serious.
I know this seems like it should go in the Venting thread, but seriously, the headaches described in that article are spot-on... This thing has caused me pain for about 8 years now... So I'm just happy (hence the happy thread) to finally know what's going on! I haven't told my family yet, because they are really good at freaking out and if the thought of "brain surgery"* entered their minds... I shudder to think of the chaos. My husband and I are going to see a neurologist next month and we'll tell the fam after the appt. So you all are my vicarious family-telling first. *I do not think it will come to that, but it is an option.

Midge, for the last time have a cookie and lie down. The headaches are all in your imagination! >.<
But in all seriousness *hugs*. Fingers crossed for good news. Please let us know as soon as you find something out. |

What's terrible is that usually the better time I'm having, the worse the headache. Laughing is a killer but I really can't help myself.

I'm so happy! I got the last written permission in from a website I'm analysing in my thesis, so now I've got all I need to start on the final bit!

I'm so happy, I just gotta brag - I am the most amazing math tutor! I always get my students up at least 2 grades, but this one was even better than most - I only had 2 weeks, and the student was at a 63. The only grades left were 2 study guides and the final. We worked together 7 hours over 2 weeks, and of course he got 100s on the study guides, working with me, but he needed an 80 or better for a C in the class (70%). He was at a 63% - and after only 7 hours of tutoring in 2 weeks,
he got a 98% on the stinkin' final!!!!!!!!!!! Go me!!!!!!!! (and him, too, but sheesh! I'm good!

We are all settled in San Francisco! We have an apartment, we have internet, we have phones, our cats are coming on Saturday, and we have cable (now we just need a tv). And I have a part-time job (I hope) to keep me sane while the visa comes through!

Hey, congrats BoP! How's the weather there? California typically gets "June gloom", then it gets nicer after June - at least where I grew up, that was common. I'll have to ask my sister if it's like that up north - she lives near you.

just talked to her - she quoted "The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco"

OMG I AM SO EXCITED!!! Had my first rehearsal with my BFF tonight and at first our voices didn't blend at all, but we analyzed it and worked on it. After a few hours of working on it, all of the sudden we started blending and it sounded awesome
It still needs a lot of work, but there were some moments of blissful beautiousness. Can't wait to rehearse with the violinist next time. |

I might have to change my sig bit about laundry ...
I just LOVE my new front-loading machine machine! Our old one died, and the dryer was ancient and small, so we splurged and got a matching washer and dryer set. But I found them for 40% off, because they were scratch-and-dent (minor cosmetic issues, but with full warranty). Anyway, I just love them - they work a hundred times better than my old set. Wish I had them a few years ago, when my older son was in sports, but I'll still enjoy them now Silly, but they are definitely nice.
