I'm working on a post for Baru - it's a bit philosophical, and doesn't involve anyone else, so I can fit it in wherever is suitable when it's finished. But it's slow work ...

Oh, I thought I'd clarify about Ellysa's apparent lack for mourning (in case you're interested): in her view, those who died, died a good death (i.e. while doing warrior-stuff) which is very important in the warriorculture she's from (for men anyway) and as such their lives should be celebrated rather than mourned. She does miss Quickleaf around of course, but feels she shouldn't dwell on it and be sad.
By the by, I half assumed Tabril might go after Ellysa as she ran off out of protective spirit or something, but if not, you can assume she took her bo with her (so she can defend herself).

Yeah, Tabrîl would understand Ellysa's feelings on that, I think. And you're right, she can't let Ellysa go off alone, either!

Tabrîl completely missed that she was being taught, though
Probably just as well - she might have taken offense. I'm working on my post - it ought to be out before the riders arrive ...

The idea that Ellysa would be trying to teach her just wouldn't occur to Tabrîl. It would seem fairly absurd to her, I think.
I'm off until next week - in the event that fighting breaks out (since I have no idea who these riders are!) I've told Mari she can write Tabrîl defending Ellysa if it's needed, since I don't want to hold up the story and keep other people from writing. Otherwise, see you all next week!

No, no new adventurers, these four. Secondary characters to help us get through the next stage of our journey alive.

So no adversaries, in hot pursuit of Radagast?
Or didn't you mean to tell us that just yet? I've typed up most of Baru's post now, and hope to post it this afternoon. Most of it takes place while she's still on the raft - but then not much takes place at all, she's just thinking ...

Finally finished it!
Coffeehouse - your cape and water-flask are safe, if nothing else The M'nak people are my own invention. There's no mention of any such people in the Chronicles. I'm trying to have them be quite similar to Tabril's people, though, as much as I can find out about those from Aika's posts. And the name just popped into my head ... The duel has "actually" taken place - that is, it took place in an actual RPG some years ago (but not with the M'nak people) I was pleading for the fight to stop, Aika played the leader who insisted that they fight to the death, and Rinkë played Aika's champion who defeated the young woman. I still remember the drama when the fight developed sentence by sentence, and I would find a new post every time I reloaded the page

I hope I didn't mutilate Tabril just now, but if I did: tell me what to change ^_^

Your Tabrîl is very good, Mari!
Hopefully we'll make the right call as to whether Radagast's companions are friends or foes - Tabrîl's still not sure!

I think I need to read through my owns posts to see which are my own assumptions about Tabril, and which are ones that I've only given to Baru to make interesting interaction later on.
About contempt: I assume that Tabril may have had some kind of body language that Baru may have assumed to convey contempt. Yep, keeping authors and characters apart is a complicated business

Contempt? Given that I wasn't actively writing at the time of Baru's arrival, there's nothing to go back and check on. But if retconning counts, sure, Tabrîl would have looked at Baru with something close to contempt for owning a bow she (as per Tabrîl's assumption) couldn't use.
She proved Tabrîl wrong about that - but her reaction was surprise. Not quite respect - although it might have suited Baru to think it was!

And so the wizard finally returns! Man, I never suspected he'd be kept out of the game for nearly a full year.
I've always found it fun to reference previous stories or RPG's into current ones, unfortunately my games have seldom overlapped in ways to do so.

Edit: Retconning was a new term for me, but that's exactly what I was doing. I hope the threadmaster doesn't mind. I would only be doing it as addition, though - filling in details from a while back, and only from my own character's point of view, not changing anything that has happened. And not playing any other character, only my own character's reaction to them and interpretation of likely occurrences. That is, Tabril would likely have looked at Baru, but she wouldn't likely have, say, quarreled with her.

Just so you know, I'm still in the game. I just haven't had anything to write at the moment

Given how distracted her writer has been lately, Haldis appreciates having other people cook for once.
I'll post for her sometime in the next couple of weeks, really I will.
