Why It's Important To Understand English

I had a bunch of Canadian dollars I needed to exchange, so I went to the currency exchange window at the local bank. Short line. Just one lady in front of me - an Asian lady who was trying to exchange yen for dollars and she was a little irritated. She asked the teller, "Why it change?!? Yesterday, I get two hunat dolla fo yen. Today I get hunat eighty?!? Why it change?"

The teller shrugged his shoulders and said, "Fluctuations."

The Asian lady says, "Fluc you white people, too!"

It's a quote from Shakespeare. Julius Caesar says to his adopted son "and you, Brutus?" before Brutus kills him. He says "and you?" because there had been others who had tried to kill Caesar and take his place as emperor. Et tu is Latin.

I loved it, though I haven't read this particular play. It's still on my to do list. I do have his collected works, but haven't had time to get started on it. Midsummer Nights Dream is my favourite though, you should try that one. It's fairly easy to read and quite funny.

I don't think that's an altogether accurate appraisal of the situation. Caesar had just been stabbed by the senators, and last of all by Brutus, his dear friend. Caesar says, "Et tu, Brute? Then fall, Caesar". ('Brute' is the vocative of Brutus, the form used in direct address). "Et" means "and", or "also", or "even". I think the sense is best conveyed with the translation, "Even you, Brutus?"
