Well, that's what I thought, but Lucy was so soft and proddable and very purty.
If I remember correctly she was a cornsnake or something? About 1 meter, not too big, but with wrong colouring.
I was supposed to go play with the 2 meter snakes of my former classmate, but due to sickness that didn't happen (yet).

Besides: some snakes eat bugs. They can't be that bad if they eat nasty bugs

THAT is teh AWESOME! Coolest looking eel evar. I only ever fed my brother's very friendly eel named Dobber. This was back in Hawaii, in a house he rented with a buddy, and one of the largest tanks I've seen outside of a proper aquarium.

It was massive, and I loved it. Anyways, Dobber was the coolest eel, and lovely. No clue what sort of eel he was, aside from being a local variety, and sorta smallish. But very friendly. My bro got him from some diver buddies of his when he was tiny and kept him in his own tank, before he moved into that house. I tell you, that eel was impressive looking, kinda like a clownfish with the coloring.

That and he was quite the escape artist and relativly good with other aquarium dwellers (if he wasn't hungry), which I don't know if is usual among eels (or any other aquarium denezin, for that matter). He never bit me or my brother, very friendly fellow.

I miss that eel, kinda was hoping to start my own modest tank now that I have a larger place...

WOW! He was a Dragon Eel! yeah, I can totally see his species being called that, man he was cool looking. Huh, so, a dragon eel... I have to google it now...

Heheh, yeah, before I came to live with my brother, he was named "eel". Me, being the nosey lil 8 year old that I was had to give him a name. So, after watching him in the tank for a bit, we (me and the eel) settled on Dobber. Sometimes, when he was feeling frisky or trying to escape, I would call him Tenacious D.

I may be anthromorphizing him when I say this, but he liked to be pet and played with and would come up of he saw me in the room. He seemed to enjoy the company.

*dont throw science in my face, I'll just keep on thinking that he enjoyed being played with*

But what a weasel! He would get out of ANYTHING! that wasn't locked and barred down. Yeesh, I found him in the garbage by the small tank once. He ahd gotten out from a loose corner of the lid, I guess.

Cool, I can say I was buddies with a Sea Dragon now!

I would never. They do like interaction, and will occasionally attach themselves to a person. Seen it.

Yeah, all eels are notorious for that. I used to set books on top of my tank as a noobie.

Cool! So, my childhood friendship with him is not unheard of! Man he was fun. I googled them though, and it says they are semi to very aggressive, but never bit me. Also that they are not good with reefs and will eat everything. Perhaps he was an exception? Or perhaps it was because his second home was so massive?

Any interesting escape stories? And any idea why the daft things want to get out of their watery homes? Merely curious, perhaps?

Er... So that's what those things are called! I've seen pictures of em, but never knew their name. Sea dragon..huh, neato!

But still, saying that I was buddies with a Dragon Eel is still pretty awesome.

Many people generalize them so that aquarists will be cautious. I kept a large eel with an octopus for years, but he never bothered with him. All animals are different.

Several. All survived (miraculously, I have no idea how long that one was on the carpet.) They want more space. Even a lrge tank is, in principle, a prison. It would be like sitting in an air bubble at 200 feet, just living to eat.

Very much so. Those are one of the many "holy grails" among aquarists. Your brother should be very proud that he had the opportunity to keep one.

Really? Holy Grails? Are the super rare or something? *is a marine tardball* I know tons about lizards, birds, horses, dogs, and cats but am a complete rube in regards to anything marine or water living.*

But yeah, after he died, my brother said no more eels. We got attached to that fiesty little guy. That and he moved into a tiny apartment and blah blah blah, so no time, space or money for aquariums.

*unless it can be caught on the end of a hook or net and be cooked. I'm good at that.

Oh, yeah. There are several. Alot of eels are on that list (like the dwarf golden moray with the TRUE golden color *drool*), tangs, wrasse, several others. Spend over two weeks in the hobby and you'll know a few. Those dragon moray commonly go 1200 dollars.

That sucks about him though. It's always hard to lose a close animal, especially the unique ones. They feel more personal.

HOLY!

1200 you say? I think my brother only paid like, 300 for him from a friend. Wow. But yeah, he was a character, and I was as attached to him as I have been to any of my other pets, be they birds, dogs or cats. My friends looked at me like I was stupid, but I did cry when he died.

Anyways, nighty night, and great talking with you! Yaaay!

They didn't even wait for them to drop? That could prove rather bad for his overall health.

Lots of breeders do it that way. It's now fairly routine. *shrug*

Well, my cat already had a litter at less than a year of age (before we adopted her). The pound spayed her right before we adopted her.

In her case, being spayed at an early age would probably have been to her benefit, but it seems that the original owners weren't bothered to do it regardless.

She an absolutely wonderful cat though. Sometimes I wonder about her early life.

Not really related, but sometimes I also wonder if she ever thinks about her children.

Tyrfing's getting snipped next month, he should be nine months then. Hopefully he'll get along better with Chrefren then, but I'm not holding my breath.
