Lucky you...but I've got my mom on my side for this really cool idea I have. On opening day of ROTK, I'm going to dress up in LOTR costume and see the movie. Then afterwards, I'm going to have a small party with LOTR food, music, and decorations...I'm trying to get some friends together for it...I've got a couple of friends that are in on it...I can't wait!!!

Lucky you ... I would say. I have no friends who would go to watch RotK on the opening day (well actually at night) and then make a party with me. That's so sad. I mean this day comes once in my life and I have no opportunity to enjoy it. Last year I went with my mum. Soooo sad.

Me to, I only have one friend that enjoys seeing it with me, and my mom won't even let me go to the 12:00 P.M. showing.

When you allready have a count down to The Return of the King, and have had one since before The Two Towers.

When you *finally* convince your mom to read the books with you, and had to stop yourself from jumping up and down when she said yes. (We'll start The Hobbit tomorow night!!!)

Can either you or Seladeen really attest to the latter? What books authored by Tolkien do you own?

I don't think it's so far out. I want to own all of them someday, but I can only get them when I find them.

But my point is that there are many works authored by Tolkien, and not all of them have anything to do with Middle-earth (except passing reference).

My mum allowed me to skip school the next day. okay, half of the day, in the 5th lesson we had a test and I went to school to write it.

I had a count down, but deleted it.

My count down in on paper, I have a peice of construction paper, and little sqares of paper that say the date and below it the number of days left till return of the king taped on. Every morning, I try to remember to tear off the last days peice of paper saying
__________
days untill ROTK:
_____________
or something to that extent.

I wish that my mom would let me skip part of the school day. However, she's not a LOTR fan.

Or AUS for Arts Undergrad Society, go Forestry!

I've been in this thread so long, I can't remember what I thought I posted and what I actually posted. But anyway...

You know you're obsessed with LotR when you compare the Faculty of Forestry to the Elves, and the Engineers to the Dwarves, and then you back it up with legitamite (sp?) points like, they are rivals, and these are things the Elves and Dwarves would actually study etc. I think Hobbits would be Agricultural Sciences, Men would be Arts, the Istari would be Commerce. Orcs would be the Teaching Assistants! (I'm only saying that because they went on strike for a month and caused students no end of trouble.)

Wow. (I'm done my exams, and going a little nuts. Bear with me here... )

edit: I actually said Arts instead of Forestry! How could I make such a heinous mistake!?

Oh, poor poor Jonathan. Even I don't do that. I just turn off the lights and try not to make any sounds when my parents walk past so they won't know I'm still on really late...

Yes to all of the above apart from the last one. I'm in the process of that one...

Hey Lai, maybe this one won't sound as funny in German, and since Tolkien made it up, it can't be deemed 'bad' as some have already done to my other ones...
'By Root and twig'
or 'By root and branch'

Other ways:
-You do not recall a single lunchtime/recess in which you haven't spoken about LotR-related things (e.g today when I spent a whole lunchtime discussing the lineage of both Aragorn and Arwen and about Aman, the star of Earendil and the Fall of Numenor.

You are obsessed with Tolkien if you consider 'romance' to be:

A) Taking over a country and then using your political influence to get a spouse.
B) Going off on an epic quest to save the world and then coming home and marrying a person who hasn't even appeared in the story before, but has appearently been pining for you all this time.
C) Nearly getting yourself killed by an evil creature, and then meeting someone in the hospital who has done the same and falling in love.
D) Running off with the one you love to steal trinkets from the most evil and dangerous person you know.
E) Getting your sister pregnant.
