Where to?
Like it'll be any safer somewhere else. But... it would give me a good excuse to go back to Japan, or Korea, New Zealand, or America perhaps. Hmm, gotta give that some thought!

You'd find me on some uninhabited atoll, soaking in the rays and snorkeling on the reef, patiently awaiting the end.

Hehe, I'd try somewhere underground.
... But if I would die there, that would suck. So on second thought, I'll be somewhere in a huge old forest or a herbgarden

So anywho...this thread is in its death throes, but I'll do my best to resucitate it. My Biology lab class' teacher is a real prude. She is totally not flexible at all and will not take suggestions (or corrections, for that matter) from any of the students. Especially about the incredibly elementary, frankly banal, that she has prepared. We are going to work with pill bugs (they are isopods related to marine isopods, which is better, I guess), and experiment with their "moisture prefference"... woohoo, right? Lets watch 10 pillbugs scramble around a septum petri dish for fifteen minutes and have them all end up on the moistened side. Why not Nassarius snails, huh? Something we dont see every time we take a biology course that involves lab. Maybe something with echionoderms and nitrates. Why not Ophiuroidea, and their (relatively) quick reactions to smell, much like the Nassarius snails. I wish we would do something with more science content. I mean, this is a second semester Bio Majors course! Let's...you know...EDUCATE.

Take it up with your student council. If you have enough people thinking the same thing, the students council should have the power to at least request a review of the course. Or that's how it works here. Here you need to hand in an official "complaint" signed by yourself and others.

Bear in mind that part of the purpose is to learn about methods of study, not just the things you are studying.

For second semester freshmen in college. The thing is, this experiment has been beaten into the ground. I had it in AP Bio in highschool, Bio 2, and now in college. It truly is in need of a change.

As I said: take it up with the student council. It's their job, they get paid for it.

Oh? *raises eyebrow* I got paid... not much, but still. You have to put a lot of time and work in it after all.

Simple moral philosophy lifeboat test.
A fire breaks out in a hospital, and you have the choice to save a tray of zygoyes, or one new-born baby. What's your choice?

It is discouraging to do work over. I was utterly spoiled, in early school, because they always gave me extra work if their project was too simple. Eventually, they just sent me to somewhere more challenging. If that is to be your fate, better sooner than later, because transfer credits SUCK.

GrayMouser, have you applied the Groningen protocol? http://www.weeklystandard.com/Conten...4/983ynlcv.asp
I'm not sure how you think hospitals are laid out and that zygote research is conducted in hospitals, but ... one obviously goes with the most immediate need - rescue the child. However, absent the fire, would you kill the baby and save the zygotes if you could harvest the stem cells that would save your life?

So glad you got the NEJM link. I could only get the first 100 or so words.
Who ya gonna save?- the baby or the stem cells for your disease?
