So you forgot a word... "whole"...

Just thought I would point that out.

*psst... Val, I think BB is just pretending to not know who the speaker is... What do you think?*

Utulien?

Is this the song sung by Strider between Bree and Weathertop? Or was it Weathertop and Rivendell?

Oh, wait. In the book, they only say it's in Elvish. The actual lyrics are in English, so nevermind.

apologies for tardiness - not been able to connect to entmoot for last 2 days - every other site worked - but entmoot came up with a fault, though it worked for others!

*puts on poker face and eyes Midge*
- maybe i'm bluffing heh? "you wanna raise?"

....
T?

hang on!

Et / E-r-l-o / -n-o-enn- / utulien /. -ino-e / -a-u-an / a- / H-l-iny-r / t-nn' / A-b-r -ett-!

3!!

plus Utulien was correct also!

was that an actual guess on speaker? .. or just a musing discounted? Not the song at weathertop, no.

You are closing in Midge!

Ambar-_etta? Yes - there is one letter in front of the 'etta' though (after the hyphon) - even as you wrote it in fact!

Et / E-r-l-o / -n-o-enn- / utulien /. -ino-e / -a-u-an / a- / H-l-iny-r / t-nn' / Ambar -etta!

Hey! What about my speaker guess (it's the only thing I am guessing that has any sort of fact to it.... the others are just really really really lucky!)?

Finore harulan ar Hollinyar tynn' Ambar-letta?

*And no, I don't want to raise. I'm good, thanks*

well, it wasn't Strider at Weathertop.

But, yes, if that was an actual speaker guess - then the Speaker was Aragorn! Or Elessar if you prefer! Well done.

Just the quote now then ...

'ar' was correct! another shorter word was only one letter away too! (also it is not letta btw)

Et / E-r-l-o / -n-o-enn- / utulien /. -ino-e / -a-u-an / ar / H-l-iny-r / t-nn' / Ambar -etta!

come now -

Let us move on and enjoy the game.

The speaker was Elessar the new King -

I, as, seems likely, have not been the only one to have trouble logging-in -

Let us move on and get back to enjoying this game, a mild but fun diversion for all concerened.

best, BB

Well - I don't know any Elvish, so I'm sort of out of action on this one.

BB - would you have been able to get one like this?

Yeah - I didn't get that one either, and was reduced to taking shots in the dark at the letters.

let me see - H-l-iny-r is Haldinyer? No idea ... give us nice easy English chestnuts, precious! It's easier to make funny guesses on English words for me - the struture of these words is too different from English.

endorenna, or endoeenna? The point is I am guessing a 'd' in the missing letter spot of that word!

Haldinyer?

Close enough - one vowel out
endorenna - is correct

Et / E-r-l-o / Endorenna / utulien /. -ino-e / -a-u-an / ar / H-ldinyar / tenn' / Ambar -etta!

yeah, this kinda backfired - an english one would have been better!

heh guys - i don't want to hold this thread up - you want me to either post it and give it to Midge (since he got the speaker?) or at least give HEAVY clues - ??

Thought this would be a fun one, but maybe not?

Best, BB
