I once spent 90 minutes alone stuck in a very small elevator (4 passengers) before the fire department came to get me out. Needless to say, I'm TERRIFIED of elevators and will take stairs every chance I get...

Definitely not boring, Sicirus -- hard to be bored when you find yourself thinking "this may be it...this just may be the end." Another close call was a plane trip with mechanical problems and finally landing on a runway lined on both sides with alternating ambulances and fire trucks. Don't like to fly much anymore.

Anyway, now when I'm forced to ride elevators I look at the people inside and think "is this a group I want to spend my last breathing moments with?" -- scary how often that answer is @#$% NO!

Dying is the ultimate fear for many people I think, not death, but the actual process by which you go and the pain that might accompany it.

I think people fear more on how they die rather than death its self.

Most people also fear what comes after death. Why else would religion come about, eh?
In fact, I think religion is entirely about fear of the unknown.

Trust me on this: you need a large torch. Nothing else will suffice. Take said torch, and smash the little bugger to pieces. I had to live with a tonne of them when I went on my field trip... you become so acclimatised to smashing them and picking up their corpses, that you soon get over any buggy fears....

I don't agree. Fear of the unknown plays a part, certainly, but I've always felt that religion was a convenient method to explain away the injustices in our lives.

Oh, and thanks for the tip WiseWizard. I tend to stay away from horror films, though, by and large. If I want to get scared, I just listen to the news.

You're right. I forgot about that part. Okay, I think it would be both fear of the unknown and an explanaton for injustices in our lives.

Ack! Not the whole injustice thing again! Has anyone else read Plato's Republic?

I believe that religon is a way to keep people in line so that they obey you

This is course a plan to take over the world that has 5 important steps
1. create a religon
2.bless the water
3.let only believers drink the water
4.dispose of disbelievers
5.proclaim yourself supreme god

Anyway I have spider fear found gigantic one in my bedroom fortunately my cat ate it, I refuse to see 8-legged freaks film

Mahahahaha!...

...mine is scary too. So is my History teacher. He yells a lot when he's lecturing. His voice will suddenly just..raise.

"So where were we? Oh yes, Joliet and MARQUETTE! But, Marquette DIDN'T MAKE IT! He died on the way BACK!"
