To those who do not know the meaning, i.e., translations of Gandalf's spells, here it is:

Annon edhellen, edro hi ammen!
Fennas nogothrim, lasto beth lammen!

Elvish gate, open now for us!
Doorway of the Dwarf-folk, listen to the words of my tongue!

Note: the hi is the lenited form of si "now"
ammen is a compound of an "for" and men "us"
beth is the lenited form of peth "word".

Naur an edraith ammen! Naur dan i ngaurhoth!

Fire [be] for the saving of us! Fire against the werewolf-host!

Melian, here is your answer...(Faramir) "I do not ask you to tell me more."

Try this...

"So four of the company still remain..."

Right people, you all know the first thing I do when I get to Entmoot after a long break- revive the trivia thread! Sheesh, no one posts here unless I'm here! see the end of my post for that

rashbold, I assume you meant to post a new topic, not to reply

as for the quote itself... I'm thinking... haven't done this in months. lessee, probably in the Two Towers, am I right? hmm....

Ok, yes this is me. I think I'll put this at the end of all my posts today. I always seem to do this. I enthusiastically post loads every day for a while and then suddenly, I'm gone. I don't know why, it just happens. This time I had tried to stay away from the net altogether as I have important exams coming up in, er, two weeks... I even tried to not read (that lasted exactly six days before I gave up) but it doesn't work. So this is how it works with me. Sorry people. I won't be here for a while, if I can just manage to stay away

Got it!

Aragorn in The Passing of the Grey Company, Ch. 2 Book 5 :

'So four of the Company still remain,' said Aragorn. 'We will ride on together.'

How about this:

Out of the fire there spoke a commanding voice.

Mount Doom.
On the mountain, Gollum tries to take the Ring from Frodo . . . Frodo stands up and does his "master" act, telling Gollum off.

Even if your war on me was just - as it was not,for were you ten times as wise you would have no right to rule me and mine, for your own profit you desired-even so, what will you say of your Torches in westfold and the children that lie dead there? And they hewed Hama's body before the gates of Hornburg, after he was dead. When you hang from a gibbet at your window for the sport of your own crows, I will have peace with you and Orthanc. So much for the House of Eorl. A lesser son of greater Sires am I, but I do not need to lick your fingers. Turn elsewither for I fear your voice has lost it's charm.

"The arm that was broken has been tended with due skill, and it will mend in time, if she has the strength to live." Aragorn about Eowyn in the Houses of Healing.

Try this:

Sam sat tapping the hilt of his sword as if he were counting on his fingers, and looking up at the sky.

'It's very strange,' he murmured. 'The Monn's the same in the Shire and in Wilderland, or it ought to be....'

Sam is counting the day for he had lost count in Lorien. The scene is on the journey down the great river.

Here we go to the next one:
'Then lost it must be,' said Gimli. For what help is there to send thither, and how could it come there in time?'

Happy riddeling

Frodo says that in ROTK, the Field of Cormallen. the next line is ' Well , Master, we could at least go further from this dangerous place here, from this Crack of Doom, if that's it's name.'

Do this and speak no more to me.

Hint: It's in ROTK.

FREAK RAIN!!!!!!!! O.o

Queen of prolonged unexplained absences and long, loooong car rides.

Well, hullo everyone. As you can see, I don't hang out here muchly anymore. There's a good reason for this. Y'see, I've been hanging out at a different chatboard called Cardboardia. So far, I've been havin' a blast. Not that I don't love the TLA, but the magic of Entmoot is lost on me. So, as soon as TLA ends, so will my existance here, probably.

Who knows though? I might stay. Highly unlikely however. This is a good bye in advance, then. Unless you want to join me and my group of friends at Cardboardia.

Cheers!

Book V, The Siege of Gondor. Denethor spoke the line to Pippin and then said, "Farewell!"

"Gandalf held it up."
