True, true. For myself, I'll say I have a taste, but I won't attest to whether it's a good one. But ah, les goûts et les couleurs...

Ill. It's been a particular nasty hayfever season for me. On top of that a cold snuck up on me between hayfever-induced sneezing fits meaning I have now doubled my clean hankies-intake. The good side I don't have to iron any hankies, they go straight from the washing-machine into use these days. Silver lining and all that jazz.

Why would you even bother to iron your handkerchief in the first place? *looks very confused*
I never iron everything, though I guess I probably should at least iron my blouses.

*shrugs* Force of habit, mostly. Easier to fit them in the drawer. Mom's pretty insistent on having everything ironed.

My sister in response has gone so far to the non-ironing side that she has hidden her ironing board deep in her basement so that even if my mom goes over to babysit, she won't find it to do some secret ironing.

There is very little that actually needs ironing, I agree.

Sis and Brother-in-law may proclaim loudly they don't need an iron, but he sneakily just leaves his shirts here in the washing, knowing well he'll get it back creasefree.

We have a ironing board but we haven't used it in so long that I don't know where it is

I did, but I kept getting approached by weird companies or guys claiming to run a school where they'd love to have me with an exorbitant salary.
That got tiresome fast.

Thanks people :I
It came out of the blue; on Friday me and her were (seemingly) happily watching a movie with people from my class, on Sunday she left me. -_-

Mari, Emperor's Bride, please...

*hugs Eärn back*

It's never fun when it happens, even if you see it coming or not.

You'll get through.

Ah, here you go! *hands Noble a cuppa and some chocolate she found in that same drawer*

I felt my civic duty was fulfilled by voting in the first place.
Thank you for your work, Earn!

Yeah, technically the voting ought to have sufficed as far as civic duty is concerned. But alas, why stop at making turning up to vote mandatory if you can get voters to man the voting stations as well?

I'm just glad they didn't need me to stay for the counting as well! Having computers is lucky in that aspect eventhough the system's pretty complicated.

And with a little bit of luck I won't be called again next election, although I have my doubts...

Wait, in Belgium it's not manned by volunteers?
So do you get the day off or compensation for manning a booth?

Haha, nooo. They'd find no one willing to volunteer, I'm sure. Or no one they'd dare to let take control of the voting process. It's almost a natural sport here to get out under the summons to crew your local voting station. Lots of people sick or 'abroad', some of them weeks in advance! Hence the pretty hefty fines if you're found to have no acceptable excuse to stay away.

And I don't get a day off either. But I'm paid the great sum of 38,50 euros, though. Or I should be getting them around now, I think, haven't checked if they deposited it yet. The government is notoriously late-player.
