Led Zepplin Ramble On

Leaves are falling all around,

It's time I was on my way.

Thanks to you, I'm much obliged

For such a pleasant stay.

But now it's time for me to go,

The autumn moon lights my way.

For now I smell the rain,

And with it pain,

And it's headed my way

. Ah, sometimes I grow so tired,

But I know I've got one thing I got to do,

Ramble On,

And now's the time, the time is now

To sing my song.

I'm goin' 'round the world,

I got to find my girl, on my way.

I've been this way ten years to the day, Ramble On,

Gotta find the queen of all my dreams.

Got no time to for spreadin' roots,

The time has come to be gone.

And tho' our health we drank a thousand times,

It's time to Ramble On.

Ramble On,

And now's the time, the time is now

To sing my song.

I'm goin' 'round the world,

I got to find my girl, on my way.

I've been this way ten years to the day, Ramble On,

Gotta find the queen of all my dreams.

I ain't tellin' no lie.

Mine's a tale that can't be told,

My freedom I hold dear;

How years ago in days of old

When magic filled the air,

T'was in the darkest depths of Mordor

I met a girl so fair,

But Gollum, and the evil one crept up

And slipped away with her.

Her, her....yea.

Ain't nothing I can do, no.

Ramble On,

And now's the time, the time is now

To sing my song.

I'm goin' 'round the world,

I got to find my girl, on my way.

I've been this way ten years to the day, Ramble On,

Gotta find the queen of all my dreams.

Gonna ramble on, sing my song

Gotta keep-a-searchin' for my baby...

Gonna work my way, round the world

I can't stop this feelin' in my heart

Gotta keep searchin' for my baby

I can't find my bluebird!

I'd listen to my bluebird sing but I can't find my blue bird

A-keep-a ramblin' baby...

Pink Floyd The Trial

Good morning, the worm, your honour,
The crown will plainly show,
The prisoner who now stands before you,
Was caught red-handed showing feelings.
Showing feelings of an almost human nature.
This will not do.

Call the schoolmaster!

I always said he’d come to no good,
In the end, your honour.
If they’d let me have my way,
I could have flayed him into shape.
But my hands were tied.
The bleeding hearts and artists,
Let him get away with murder.
Let me hammer him today.

Crazy.
Toys in the attic, I am crazy.
Truly gone fishing.
They must have taken my marbles away.
(crazy. toys in the attic, he is crazy.)

You little ****, you’re in it now.
I hope they throw away the key.
You should’ve talked to me more often than you did.
But no! you had to go your own way.
Have you broken any homes up lately?
Just five minutes, worm, your honour,
Him and me alone.

Baaaaaabe!
Come to mother, baby.
Let me hold you in my arms.
M’lord, I never meant for him to get in any trouble.
Why’d he ever have to leave me?
Worm, your honour, let me take him home.

Crazy.
Over the rainbow, I am crazy.
Bars in the window.
There must have been a door there in the wall.
For when I came in. . .
(crazy. over the rainbow, he is crazy.)

The evidence before the court is incontravertible.
There’s no need for the jury to retire.
In all my years of judging I have never heard before,
Of someone more deserving of the full penalty of the law.
The way you made them suffer,
Your exquisite wife and mother,
Fills me with the urge to deficate! -- no, judge, the jury!
Since, my friend, you have revealed your deepest fear,
I sentence you to be exposed before your peers.
Tear down the wall!

"I Wanted To Be Wrong"

You know where I come from
You know what I feel
You're Yul Brenner Westworld
Reporting from the field.
I threw it into reverse,
Made a motion to repeal.
You kicked my legs from under me,
And tried to take the wheel.

I told you I wanted to be wrong,
But everyone is humming a song
That I don't understand.

Now I know that the sun has shined on my side of the street.
The basket of America, the weevils and the wheat.
The milk and honeyed congregation, scrubbed and apple-cheeked
Salute Apollo 13 from the rattle jewelry seats.

Mythology's seductive and it turned a trick on me
That I have just begun to understand.

I told you I wanted to be wrong,
But everyone is humming a song
That I don't understand.

The rodeo is staged, gold circle goat-ropers and clowns.
A rumble in the third act, tie 'em up and burn 'em down.
We're armed to the teeth, born a little breech;
Blue-plate special analysts, cells and SUV's

We can't approach the Allies 'cause they seem a little peeved
And speak a language we don't understand.

I told you I wanted to be wrong
But everyone is humming a song
That I don't understand.

(Prop up The Omega Man, we're primed for victory,
God gave us the upper hand, there's honor among thieves.
Temper it with arrogance, a dash of sad conceit.
The top's down on the T-Bird, we're the children of the free)

Storm into the boardroom of the conquering elite.
Did you recognize the madman who is shouting in the streets?
Destroy the things that I don't understand
Destroy the things that I don't understand.

I'd take a Simon and Garfunkel song.

Scarborough Fair

(btw, if you haven't heard it, or this version, the words in parentheses are somewhat interwoven with the ones immediately preceding them. Taken together... it's awfully haunting, IMO)

Are you going to Scarborough Fair?
Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme
Remember me to one who lives there
She once was a true love of mine

Tell her to make me a cambric shirt
(On the side of a hill in the deep forest green)
Parsely, sage, rosemary and thyme
(Tracing a sparrow on snow-crested ground)
Without no seams nor needlework
(Blankets and bedclothes a child of the mountains)
Then she'll be a true love of mine
(Sleeps unaware of the clarion call)

Tell her to find me an acre of land
(On the side of a hill, a sprinkling of leaves)
Parsely, sage, rosemary, and thyme
(Washed is the ground with so many tears)
Between the salt water and the sea strand
(A soldier cleans and polishes a gun)
Then she'll be a true love of mine

Tell her to reap it in a sickle of leather
(War bellows, blazing in scarlet battalions)
Parsely, sage, rosemary and thyme
(Generals order their soldiers to kill)
And to gather it all in a bunch of heather
(And to fight for a cause they've long ago forgotten)
Then she'll be a true love of mine

Are you going to Scarborough Fair?
Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme
Remember me to one who lives there
She once was a true love of mine

one more (which brings back memories.. ): It takes a Fool to remain sane by The Ark;

Whatever happened to the funky race?
A generation lost in pace,
Wasn´t life supposed to be more than this?
In this kiss I´ll change your bore for my bliss
But let go of my hand and it will slip out in the sand if you don´t give me the chance
to break down the walls of attitude,
I ask nothing of you
not even your gratitude

And if you think I´m corny
then it will not make me sorry
it´s your right to laugh at me
and in turn, that´s my oppurtunity
to feel brave

'Cause it takes a fool to remain sane
It takes a fool to remain sane
It takes a fool to remain sane
In this world all covered up in shame

Every morning I would see her getting off the bus the picture never drops
it´s like a multicoloured snapshot stuck in my brain
it kept me sane for a couple of years
as it drenched my fears
of becoming like the others
who become unhappy mothers
and fathers of unhappy kids
And why is that?

´Cause they´ve forgotten how to play
maybe they´re afraid to feel ashamed
to seem strange
to seem insane
to seem gay
to gain weight
- I tell you this:

That it takes a fool to remain sane
It takes a fool to remain sane
It takes a fool to remain sane
In this world all covered up in shame
(-Oh, take it to the stage!)

So, take it to the stage in a multicoloured jacket take it jackpot, crackpot,
strutting like a peacock
nailvarnish Arkansas
shimmy-shammy featherboah crackpot haircut
dye your hair in glowing red and blue,
-Do, Do, Do! What you wanna do, Don´t think twice, do what you have to do,
Do, Do, Do, let your heart decide what you have to do that´s all there is to find

Cause it takes a fool to remain sane,
Oh,It takes a fool to remain sane
It takes a fool to remain sane
In this world all covered up in shame
It takes a fool to remain sane,
It takes a fool to remain sane
It takes a fool to remain sane
In this world all covered up in shame.

Listen to a bit of it here!

Jokerman by Bob Dylan

Standing on the water, casting your bread
While the eyes of the idol with the iron head are glowing
Distant ships sailing into the mist
You were born with a snake in both of your fists while a
hurricane was blowing
Freedom just around the corner for you
But with truth so far off, what good will it do.

Jokerman dance to the nightingale tune
Bird fly high by the light of the moon
Oh, oh, oh, Jokerman.

So swiftly the sun sets in the sky
You rise up and say goodbye to no one
Fools rush in where angels fear to tread
Both of their futures, so full of dread, you don't show one
Shedding off one more layer of skin
Keeping one step ahead of the persecutor within.

Jokerman dance to the nightingale tune
Bird fly high by the light of the moon
Oh, oh, oh, Jokerman.

You're a man of the mountain, you can walk on the clouds
Manipulator of crowds, you're a dream twister
You're going to Sodom and Gomorrah
But what do you care ? Ain't nobody there would want marry your
sister
Friend to the martyr, a friend to the woman of shame
You look into the fiery furnace, see the rich man without any
name.

Jokerman dance to the nightingale tune
Bird fly high by the light of the moon
Oh, oh, oh, Jokerman.

Well, the Book of Leviticus and Deuteronomy
The law of the jungle and the sea are your only teachers
In the smoke of the twilight on a milk-white steed
Michelangeo indeed could've carved out your features
Resting in the fields, far from the turbulent space
Half asleep near the stars with a small dog licking your face.

Jokerman dance to the nightingale tune
Bird fly high by the light of the moon
Oh, oh, oh, Jokerman.

Well, the rifleman's stalking the sick and the lame
Preacherman seeks the same, who'll get there first is uncertain
Nightsticks and water cannons, tear gas, padlocks
Molotow cocktails and rocks behind every curtain
False-hearted judges dying in the webs that they spin
Only a matter of time 'til the night comes stepping in.

Jokerman dance to the nightingale tune
Bird fly high by the light of the moon
Oh, oh, oh, Jokerman.

It's a shadowy world, skies are slippery gray
A woman just gave birth to a prince today and dressed him in
scarlet
He'll put the priest in his pocket, put the blade to the heat
Take the motherless children off the street
And place them at the feet of a harlot
Oh, Jokerman, you know what he wants
Oh, Jokerman, you don't show any response.

Jokerman dance to the nightingale tune
Bird fly high by the light of the moon
Oh, oh, oh, Jokerman.

Electric Light Orchestra - Sweet Talkin' Woman

WHERE DID YOU GO?
I was searchin' SEARCHIN' on a one-way street,
I was hopin' HOPIN' for a chance to meet.
I was waitin' for the operator on the line.
SHE'S GONE SO LONG What can I do?
WHERE COULD SHE BE? No no no,

I gotta get back to you.
You gotta slow down SLOW DOWN sweet talkin' woman SLOW DOWN
You got me runnin' RUN RUN you got me searchin'.
Hold on HOLD ON sweet talkin' lover HOLD ON
It's so sad if that's the way it's over.
I was WALKIN' many days go by,
I was thinkin' THINKIN' 'bout the lonely nights.
Communication breakdown all around.
SHE'S GONE SO LONG What can I do?
WHERE COULD SHE BE? No no no,
don't know what I'm gonna do,
I gotta get back to you.
You gotta slow down SLOW DOWN sweet talkin' woman SLOW DOWN
You got me runnin' RUN RUN you got me searchin'.

Jefferson Airplane - Come Up The Years

Come Up The Years by Jefferson Airplane
(Marty Balin/Paul Kantner)

I oughta get goin'
I shouldn't stay here and love you
More than I do
'Cause you're so much younger than I am
Come up the years
Come up the years
And love me, love me, love me

A younger girl keeps hangin' around
One of the loveliest I've ever found
Blowin' my mind, stealin' my heart
Somebody help me 'fore I fall apart

I oughta get goin'
I shouldn't stay here and love you
More than I do
'Cause you're so much younger than I am
Come up the years
Come up the years
And love me, love me, love me

The things she's doin' keep turnin' me on
And I've been happy to go right along
I know it's time that I said good-bye
I know I can't leave no matter how hard I try

I oughta get goin'
I shouldn't stay here and love you
More than I do
'Cause you're so much younger than I am
Come up the years
Come up the years
And love me, love me, love me.......

Hallelujah by Jeff Buckley

Well I heard there was a secret chord
that David played and it pleased the Lord
But you don't really care for music, do ya?
Well it goes like this :
The fourth, the fifth, the minor fall and the major lift
The baffled king composing Hallelujah

Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah...

Well your faith was strong but you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof
Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew ya
And she tied you to her kitchen chair
She broke your throne and she cut your hair
And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah

Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah...

(Yeah but) Baby I've been here before
I've seen this room and I've walked this floor, (You know)
I used to live alone before I knew ya
And I've seen your flag on the marble arch
and love is not a victory march
It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah

Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah...

Well there was a time when you let me know
What's really going on below
But now you never show that to me do ya
But remember when I moved in you
And the holy dove was moving too
And every breath we drew was Hallelujah

Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah

Hallelujah...

Maybe there's a God above
But all I've ever learned from love
Was how to shoot somebody who outdrew ya
It's not a cry that you hear at night
It's not somebody who's seen the light
It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah

Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah…
Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelu...
Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah

Hallellllluuuuuuuujjjaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh...Hallel llluuuuuujjaaaaaaaaaahhhh

INTO MY ARMS - NICK CAVE
I don't believe in an interventionist God
But I know, darling, that you do
But if I did I would kneel down and ask Him
Not to intervene when it came to you
Not to touch a hair on your head
To leave you as you are
if He felt He had to direct you
Then direct you into my arms

Into my arms, O Lord
Into my arms, O Lord
Into my arms, O Lord
Into my arms

And I don't believe in the existence of angels
But looking at you I wonder if that's true
But if I did I would summon them together
And ask them to watch over you
Or to each burn a candle for you
To make bright and clear your path
And to walk, like Christ, in grace and love
And guide you into my arms

Into my arms, O Lord
Into my arms, O Lord
Into my arms, O Lord
Into my arms

But I believe in Love
And I know that you do too
And I believe in some kind of path
Where we can walk down, me and you
So keep your candles burning
And make a journey bright and pure
That you'll keep returning
Always and evermore

Into my arms, O Lord
Into my arms, O Lord
Into my arms, O Lord
Into my arms

trite?

I'd swear I was in church in here....
Enough trite.
----------------------------------------------------------

The Album: The Byrds - Notorious Byrd Brothers
Columbia Records 1968

The song: Goin´ Back
(G.Goffin/C.King)

I think I´m going back to the things that I learned so well in my youth
I think I´m returning to those days when I was young enough to know the truth
Now there are no games to only pass the time
No more electric trains, no more trees to climb
But thinking young and growing older is no sin
And I can play the game of life to win

I can recall the time when I wasn´t ashamed to reach out to a friend
Now I think I´ve got a lot more than just my toys to lend
Now there´s more to do than watch my sailboat glide
And every day can be a magic carpet ride
A little bit of courage is all we lack
So catch me if you can, I´m goin´ back

Now there´s more to do than watch my sailboat glide
But every day can be a magic carpet ride
A little bit of courage is all we lack
So catch me if you can, I´m goin´ back

Nick Cave?... heresy fine ill give you some Stagger Lee.
Stagger Lee - Nick Cave
It was back in '32 when times were hard
He had a Colt .45 and a deck of cards
Stagger Lee

He wore rat-drawn shoes and an old stetson hat
Had a '28 Ford, had payments on that
Stagger Lee

His woman threw him out in the ice and snow
And told him, "Never ever come back no more"
Stagger Lee

So he walked through the rain and he walked through the mud
Till he came to a place called The Bucket Of Blood
Stagger Lee

He said "Mr Mother****er, you know who I am"
The barkeeper said, "No, and I don't give a good goddamn"
To Stagger Lee

He said, "Well bartender, it's plain to see
I'm that bad mother****er called Stagger Lee"
Mr. Stagger Lee

Barkeep said, "Yeah, I've heard your name down the way
And I kick mother****ing asses like you every day"
Mr Stagger Lee

Well those were the last words that the barkeep said
'Cause Stag put four holes in his mother****ing head

Just then in came a broad called Nellie Brown
Was known to make more money than any bitch in town

She struts across the bar, hitching up her skirt
Over to Stagger Lee, she starts to flirt
With Stagger Lee

She saw the barkeep, said, "O God, he can't be dead!"
Stag said, "Well, just count the holes in the mother****er's head"
She said, "You ain't look like you scored in quite a time.
Why not come to my pad? It won't cost you a dime"
Mr. Stagger Lee

"But there's something I have to say before you begin
You'll have to be gone before my man Billy Dilly comes in,
Mr. Stagger Lee"

"I'll stay here till Billy comes in, till time comes to pass
And furthermore I'll **** Billy in his mother****ing ass"
Said Stagger Lee

"I'm a bad mother****er, don't you know
And I'll crawl over fifty good p*****'s just to get one fat boy's a******"
Said Stagger Lee

Just then Billy Dilly rolls in and he says, "You must be
That bad mother****er called Stagger Lee"
Stagger Lee

"Yeah, I'm Stagger Lee and you better get down on your knees
And suck my ****, because If you don't you're gonna be dead"
Said Stagger Lee

Billy dropped down and slobbered on his ****
And Stag filled him full of lead
Oh yeah.

How come this thread slipped?

oh well,

The Sacrament, by HIM

I hear you breathe so far from here
I feel your touch so close and real

And I know my church is not of silver and gold
Its glory lies beyond judgment of souls
The commandments are of consolation and warmth
You know our sacred dream won’t fail

The sanctuary tender and so frail
The sacrament of love
The sacrament of warmth is true
The sacrament is you

I hear you weep so far from here
I taste your tears like you’re next to me

And I know my weak prayers are not enough to heal
The ancient wounds so deep and so dear
The revelation is of hatred and fear

(Awesome tune)

Hey!

Well my temperature's rising and my feet on the floor
Twenty people rockin' and there wanna go more
Let me in baby, i don't know what you've got
But you'd better take it easy, this place is hot

So glad we made it
So glad we made it
You gotta

Gimme some lovin' (gimme some lovin')
Gimme some lovin' (gimme gimme some lovin')
Gimme some lovin'
Everyday
Hey hey

Hey!

Well i feel so good, everything is sellin' high
You'd better take it ease cause the place is on fire
It's been a hard day and i don't know what to do
We made it baby and it happened to you
And i'm

So glad we made it
So glad we made it
You gotta

Gimme some lovin' (gimme some lovin')
Gimme some lovin' (gimme gimme some lovin')
Gimme some lovin'
Everyday

Breath ~ Pink Floyd

Breathe, breathe in the air
Don't be afraid to care
Leave but don't leave me
Look around and chose your own ground
For long you live and high you fly
And smiles you'll give and tears you'll cry
And all you touch and all you see
Is all your life will ever be
Run, run rabbit run
Dig that hole, forget the sun,
And when at last the work is done
Don't sit down it's time to start another one
For long you live and high you fly
But only if you ride the tide
And balanced on the biggest wave
You race toward an early grave.

Sarah Brightman, Anytime, Anywhere

Strade son' cambiate. / Faccie son' diverse. / Era la mia cittÃ*. / Non la conosco più. / La ora io sono solo un' estranea / Senza patria.

I remember you were there. / Any one emotion. / Any true devotion. / Anytime, anywhere.

Case son' cambiate. / Voci son' diverse. / Era la mia cittÃ*. / Non la conosco più. / La ora io sono solo un' estranea / Senza patria.

I remember you were there. / Any one emotion. / Any true devotion. / Anytime, anywhere.

Tanti, anni son' passati. / Vite son' cambiate. / Era la mia cittÃ*. / Non la conosco più. / E ora io sono solo un' estranea / Senza patria.

Rufus Wainwright, Harvester of Hearts

if a person should ever like a person,
then a person should like you....
being that i’m only just a person, what would you do?

if a person should ever like a person,
a person should like me....
being that you’re only just a person, it must be.

still, i find it hard to get an answer
from the harvester of hearts
i always find it hard to get an answer
from the harvester of hearts

if a person should ever like a person
how funny that would be
if a person should ever like me

not that i have that much to offer,
god knows i have so much to gain
from the harvester of hearts
from the harvester of pain

if a person should ever like a person
then a person should be free
free to like whomever that they want to
even though it aint me

not that i have that much to offer
god knows i have so much to gain
from the harvester of hearts
from the harvester of pain

This song was written of the Potato Famine in Ireland. I love the despair in the father's verses- the feeling of sorrow and pain is very evident in the song, especially when you hear it sung.

Skibbereen trad.

O Father dear I oft times hear you talk of Erin's Isle
Her lofty scenes and valleys green, her mountains rude and wild
They say it is a pretty place, wherein a prince might dwel
O why did you abandon it? the reason to me tell.

O son I loved my native land with energy and pride
'Til a blight came over all my crops, my sheep and cattle died
The rent and taxes were so high, I could not them redeem
And that's the cruel reason why I left old Skibbereen

'Tis well I do remember that bleak December day
The landlord and the sheriff came to drive us all away
They set my roof on fire with their demon yellow spleen
And that's another reason why I left old Skibbereen

Your mother too, God rest her soul, fell on the snowy ground
She fainted in her anguish seeing the desolation round
She never rose but passed away from life to mortal dream
She found a quiet grave, my boy, in dear old Skibbereen

And you were only two years old and feeble was your frame
I could not leave you with your friends, you bore your father's name
I wrapped you in my cota mor at the dead of the night unseen
And I heaved a sigh and I said goodbye to dear old Skibereen

O, father dear the day will come when on vengeance we will call
And Irishmen both stout and tall will rally unto the call
I'll be the man to lead the band beneath the flag of green
And loud and high we'll raise the cry: "Revenge for Skibereen"

It's New Years Day, just like the day before;
Same old skies of grey, same empty bottles on the floor.
Another year's gone by, and I was thinking once again,
How can I take this losing hand and somehow win?

Just give me One Good Year To get my feet back on the ground.
I've been chasing grace; Grace ain't so easily found
One bad hand can devil a man, chase him and carry him down.
I've got to get out of here, just give me One Good Year!
