Whee! Happy b-day, and Merry Christmas, Smintz! That must suck, though; you only get half as many presents as you would otherwise, just getting them all as Christmas gifts.

Where did this thread come from? How did it escape my notice? *contemplates*
I love writing in Tengwar. The site I learned it from is here. (I don't know whether anyone has posted this link yet). My friend who could care less about LotR but knows I call myself an Elf asked me to teach her, so now we pass notes in class all the time. If anyone tries to read them, they get very annoyed. I'll try to scan in some of my better attempts now. I'll post them in awhile.

Happy bday, Smintz! Sorry I missed it - I've been away from home this Christmas and can't get much computer time. I'll be back on Friday.
Hi Elf Girl! I started this thread because I love writing in Tengwar, and it's been such fun to share notes and "talk Tengwar" with other Mooters - glad to meet you That's a great link - that was one of the 2 initial links I posted. Have you had a chance to scan thru most of the thread? There's lots of fun stuff! I"ll look forward to seeing your attachments BTW, in letter #118, JRRT writes "you" as "yow"!

I've had people look at my Tengwar scribblings and say, "You know Japanese?" Apparently my Tengwar looks like Japanese, Arabic, Chinese, Orcish, and Elvish, all at once (only one person actually knew it for what it was. Is this not sad?)

wow. how long have i been gone? i wasnt here to notice that this thread is now on the third page...its sad. i think...i need to practice. i forgot some things. letters i knew and so on. but i have been busy. anyway, how are you people?
back to that other thing. i did have one person who sort of knew what it was. this one girl was like, "hey that's that thing from lord of the rings that was written on the ring." close enough. better than saying arabic or japanese. (TC, i don't know how they came up with that one) everyone else says "you know, that weird writing that you know how to do!" |

This is the only one I've ever done on the computer. All, behold! I know it's small, but because of the way I did it, I had to shrink it.

Thought I'd try and revive this thread a bit...
Oh, and forgive the horribly squished-ness of it; stupid 10K limit!

whew, that is squishy, I can make out 'bored' and a couple more words, but that's about it! What's the second word? I get 'wa' ???
I'm not happy with my Tengwar recently, I'm thinking of writing it at an angle, like cursive....

Yeah, I know it's hard to read, and I'm sorry; stupid 10K limit...I can read it, but that's because I wrote it! Okay...
Okay, so it doesn't make that much sense, but it did at the time!

hroom, was very frustrated today and wrote some Tengwar to ease my frazzled nerves - did it slanted like cursive, and I think I like it - I'll try to get a sample up for your opinions.
