easy. Next sentance:

"I would have things as they were in all the days of my life," answered Denethor, "and in the days (..)"

okay, find this:
"Very well," said Sam heavily.

Two Towers

Gandalf

Got it!

Quote:
'If it must be, let's get it over!' He took up the rope...'

OK...here goes Two Towers

Gimli Not bad for my first try :)

Quote:
"It's a lie!" hissed Gollum, and an evil light came into his eyes at the naming of Aragorn.
OK, now here's my sentence:

Quote:
"Here is another riddle!" said Gimli.
It's from The Two Towers

easy enough
next sentance "But there you are, Hobbits must stick together, especially Bagginses." Bilbo in Rivendell, having given Frodo the mithril coat.

now find this: Two Towers

"He has been much occupied."

Btw I notice that we now put the book immediately, not as a hint. Should we carry on doing this? or only with harder ones? or only at asking for a 'hint'?...

Quote:
"Our orders came from Treebeard, who has taken over the management of Isengard."
is the next line.

Now try this one:
Quote:
"Most noble hobbit, it leaves me deep in your debt."
also from the Two Towers.

said by Gimli in Flotsam and Jetsam. Next sentance is

"Well I am going back into the open air, to see what the wind and sky are doing!" said Legolas.

find this:

"How many are there?" he thought.

Two Towers also.

((please tell me what you think about giving the book or not: I could have got "Most noble hobbit, it leaves me deep in your debt." without the book just as easily but there are many that I find impossible even WITH the book... what do you think? for instance the one I just gave, would you have preferred it with or without the hint?))

Gandalf

Here it is...
'Thirty or forty from the tower at least, and a lot more than that from down below, I guess...

I think including the book is a good thing.

Try this from RotK...

Grond crawled on.

That actually occurs twice... also, I would try not to have names in your quotes; or at least only have common ones. There is an index you know, and Grond only has one page number... One of my very firs quotes when Trivia game was only just started was like yours, and I was very amazed at how quickly it was solved. On asking how, I was told they'd looked it up

Anyway, the next (two) sentances are:Upon it's housing no fire would catch; and though now and then some great beast would go (...) and: The drums rolled wildly.

find this: fotr

Out east my knoowledge fails.

Here it is...
We shall be fortunate indeed if we do not find the Last Bridge held against us.

Try this...
"It is as I feared."

Not from "the Scouring of the Shire"., I have discovered this is in LOTR twice, though...either one will be excepted!!

I assume everyone has lost interest in the trivia game.

answer!

I was looking in TT, but didn't expect it to be Wormtongue speaking to Theoden..."This wizard has bewitched you."

New one:

"So fear me not!"
