I have a new riddle for y'all:

“City of Elves” with tall white towers.
Origin of jewelry containing great powers.
Friendly to Dwarves and lovers of holly,
Utterly ruined from pride and from folly.

Also, here is a reposting of an unsolved riddle...

Tools of war
above the fire.
Found in homes throughout the Shire.
Useless items of little worth
exchanged as gifts back and forth.
If any hobbits want to see 'em
in Michel Delving there's a museum!

I was thinking it might be Menegroth, but I'm not sure if it fits with all the clues.

Nope, it's not Menegroth but you are a good sport for trying!

A reposting of my two unsolved riddles:

#1
I was pensive in gloom,
I was hopeful for doom;
My countenance cold,
My heart raging fire,
My wish was untold,
My soul's one desire.

Death's cold hand has touched me,
Love unseen has found me.
I saw the world's end;
Saw hope in the night;
Watched darkness descend;
Saw return of light.

I have won I have lost,
My joy comes with great cost.
Guised as a horseman,
I rode on for ruin;
Returned with slain men,
And ride now for the moon.

#3
Borne by a hobbit,
Through strange, distant lands,
Made of metal, we,
Forged by skillful hands.

Deep crack was our bane,
In the dark Black Land;
Hard was the parting
From our master's hand.

btw, Keith K, the answer to #1 isn't Beren.

Another year's gone by, and I was thinking once again,
How can I take this losing hand and somehow win?

Just give me One Good Year To get my feet back on the ground.
I've been chasing grace; Grace ain't so easily found
One bad hand can devil a man, chase him and carry him down.
I've got to get out of here, just give me One Good Year!

To answer my riddle correctly you must name the city.

Is the answer to Rosie #3 Sam's cooking pans?

for #1 I am very confused. I will guess Eowyn this time.

Here is another riddle for y'all to guess...

“Citadel of Stars” divided in twain.
Bridged together to rule a domain.

It has a name? Can't remember it at the moment, only remember the name of the Elven smiths. Will have to get back to you on this.

Osgiliath is correct.

As you may have noticed the answers to both riddles are given within the quotation marks at the beginning of each riddle. If you can't translate to the Elvish or Numenorian (like me), you must look it up!

Okay, one more city riddle and I will have them out of my system:

Built upon the edge of light,
the mighty “watch tower” looked into the night.
And in the courtyard for all to see,
in splendor and glory there stood a white tree.

Yeah, those are both right. What's confusing??

Actually, I meant to edit that remark. After I reread the riddle (for the fifth time) the answer became more obvious and I realized that it had to be Eowyn. In any event it was a wonderful poem and riddle. Interpreting it was fun.

Also, the answer to my city riddle is not Minas Tirith. (not as easy as it appeared eh? Besides, I felt I owed you a misdirection riddle after solving your #3).

T*rion, then perhaps?

Tirion it is! Now, tell me the answer to my other riddle still out there:

“City of Elves” with tall white towers.
Origin of jewelry containing great powers.
Friendly to Dwarves and lovers of holly,
Utterly ruined from pride and from folly.

Alright, alright! I'll look it up! Sheesh, hasty riddlers...

If it isn't Ost-In-Edhil (hey that's indeed 'City of Elves'), I give up.
