When did I tear up?...

I think a better question to ask would be when did I not tear up?

Gosh, I cried practically the whole movie, but especially the second half! Some of the times I remember crying:

-when Pippin rides off with Gandalf leaving Merry behind
-the lighting of the beacons
-Pippin's song
-the Denethor/Faramir scenes
-the charge of the Rohirrim
-Théoden's death
-Éowyn battling the Witchking ("I am no man!")
-Frodo sending Sam away
-Sam carrying Frodo
-the coronation of Aragorn, and when Arwen comes with Elrond
-when the hobbits bow down to Aragorn and Arwen and then everyone bows to them instead!
-the Grey Havens
-"Well, I'm back!" (gets me every time I read the book too!)

-All of the above (except Theoden's death, Eowyn killing the Witchking, and Sam carrying Frodo up the Mountain)

Pippin's song was really cool, and when Frodo left Middle Earth I wanted him to stay (lol)

I really started crying when the Fellowship reunited in Frodo's room. That look that Frodo and Sam exchange made me brawl.

same here!
It was 'The Fellowship' again except Boromir obviously, but they were all there and Aragorn, Legolas, Gandalf and Gimli were all stood up looking down on the Hobbits like at the Council of Elrond and it was really sad and then Sam came in and i was just in floods of tears.

But yeah i cried pretty much all the way through and cried at every part that has been mentioned on this thread lol.

Yeah, I think that was the part where you almost broke my hand

I cried....

* when Pippin has to leave Merry to go with Gandalf, and they don't know if they'll meet again

* when Pippin sang

*When Frodo got stung by Shelob

* When Sam found Frodo paralyzed

* When Theoden died

* When Denethor lit the pyre Faramir was on

* When Sam carried Frodo up the mountain

* At the end

I think that's the most I've cried since I was three or something.

I don't cry at movies, period. The only movie that ever really made me cry is I am Sam/Sam I Am or whatever...and I didn't even like it that much, really. Not as much as RotK at any rate. I wanted to cry when Eowyn killed the witch king (not when Theoden died though, so I guess it wasn't a sad almost cry as an emotion almost cry). I did smile a lot though. I guess I smiled instead of crying. Pretty much at all the places everyone else mentioned.

-Aragorn's battle-speech before the Black Gate

-"That will depend on the manner of your return"

-The charge of the Rohirrim

-"Death is but another journey, one that we all must take"

-Pippin's song

-The women/children/old people throwing the flowers into the path of the departing soldiers

-Merry & Pippin's parting

-"Take my hand, Mr. Frodo. Don't you dare let go"

-Shelob all the way through (sorrow that they butchered her, and then, after Frodo "died," at Sam)

-"You can't help me anymore, Sam. Go home"

Theoden

One particular part was sadder to me in retrospect than at the moment: When the cavalry of Gondor is parading through the city streets, on their way to make a charge at occupied Osgiliath - and the Gondorian beauties and other citizenry (un-evacuated - oh my!) giving and throwing flowers... it's much sadder afterwards, when you know what the mortality rate is...

I didnt cry but the parts I almost cried during are (not in order):

~Pippin's song
~When Frodo told Sam to go home
~The Gray Havens
~Theoden's death
~Merry and Pippin's parting
~When Denethor is being horrible to Faramir
~Arwen seeing Aragorn and their son (Where did the building come from?)
~Sam carrying Frodo up the mountain
~and at the very end when Sam gets home and picks up his kid

Oh cripes, most of the movie, I think!

* Frodo telling Sam to go home.

* Pippin and Merry having to part. *sniff*

* Frodo getting stung. Ow. All three sessions I've been to, people giggled at that, though. I felt like hurling popcorn at them.

* Sam finding Frodo and thinking he's dead. I couldn't stop after, "Don't go where I can't follow!"

* Denethor being a complete and utter bastard to Faramir. (The third time I saw that, I actually yelled out, "(bleep)WIT!!" at the screen. Swear to god, I got applause.)

* Pippin's song, and the soldiers all leaving for the suicide attack on Osgiliath.

* When Faramir was brought back 'dead'. Yeah, I knew he was alive, but still!

* The lighting of the beacons. Finest cinematography I've ever seen.

* Gandalf telling Pippin that death is just another journey, and Pippin's shaky little smile and, "Well that doesn't sound so bad..."

* The charge of the Rohirrim.

* Theoden's death. (WAAHHH!)

* "I can't carry it for you. But I CAN carry YOU!"

* Aragorn's speech. "But it is not this day! This day - we fight!" and "For Frodo!"

* When Pippin realises that Frodo and Sam will more than likely be killed when Mt Doom explodes and just starts sobbing.

* The whole 'here at the end of all things' scene.

* The Fellowship's reunion, and that... LOOK that Frodo and Sam share... sooo sweet.

* Aragorn's coronation, and everyone bowing to the Hobbits.

* The Grey Havens, Sam, Merry and Pip just bawling their eyes out... Gandalf saying, "I will not say do not cry, for not all tears are evil," and me muttering, "Good, cos that's what I've been doing for three hours..."

* And the very end, and all the way through to the credits. "Well... I'm back."

...Jeeeeez I cry a lot o.O

Sorry guys, but I never cried during RoTK. Only when Boromir died did my eyes water a little bit.

Our theater was pretty quiet, too. It was one of the smaller ones. No one hollared, clapped, cheered, sobbed, etc. during the entire thing!

I almost cried a few times, like at the charge of the Rohirrim, but I didn't actually cry.

Lucky you Mercutio to be in such a great theatre!

I wish. After about two hours I wasn't really crying... well, I was, but minus the tears. It really really really really hurts your eyes.

I'm a sook, what's your point? *g* Probably why I spent lunchtimes in the library, curled up in the corner with LOTR, instead of being outside!

I cried at Boromir's death. That was the saddest, most moving part of the entire trilogy.

Faramir & company riding out with the ladies throwing flowers before them. The feeling was they were riding to their death. And Pippens song while they charged Osgoliath... I wish the gross Denethor pig part wasn't in there though.

Oh that scene was so *snif* good. And I think I was a little choked up when Gandalf fell, even though I knew he was coming back. Just the music and all the actors....it was kinda sad.
