I've never gone into chat rooms. As you say...full of weirdos. I swear my heart stopped, get rid of Messenger, not like I'm very often though!

I just saw this - and all I can say is - boy do you guys jump to conclusions and over react.

It's been all over the news what MSN is doing. They are closing down group chat rooms in overseas countries, requiring people to be part of the paid service of MSN to access the chat rooms in the US. It has nothing to do with private chatting and there is no way that they can close down entmoot or any other messageboard!

Entmoot and other messageboards are part of the WWW. They are not through any particular internet service provider, which is what MSN is.

I thought we were merely discussing possible reasons for this act, considering the idea of them trying to keep perverts out, and then wondering what would happen if people got more hyper about the idea and started closing down message boards. What's the harm in speculating?

Because it's impossible for them to close down messageboards - so why speculate on it. NO ONE owns the internet. There is only one person who can close down Entmoot - and that's Ben.

You guys didn't sound like you were joking about the possibility of Messageboards closing down. I believe you actually thought it was a possibility.

If you're going speculate - why not have a serious discussion about what life would be like now without them - instead of saying "oh - god what happens if someone decides to close down entmoot? If they can do it to chat rooms - they can do it to messageboards".

I've met several people on entmoot who I consider friends - I think messageboards make the world smaller. The world is a much different place because of the internet.
