Yeah, I think Tolkien created different types of heroes. Definitely.
Think of Aragorn and Sam. Aragorn was a ranger and a stranger from the wilderness. In some way he was born to be a hero. But Sam just struggeled into the whole story but ended as a hero, although his character doesn't seem to be the type for a hero.
