I geuss I understand why you wont deleate the old user names that are not longer in use, I would hate it if I left for a year and during that time someone said "I want to be Samwiselvr2008" If I came back then it would be a mess, because I would want my name back to post on. I wanted to just be Samwise when I sighned up on Entmoot, but before even checking I new that it would be taken. So I didn't even bother to ask, and even if I did, and did get to be called Samwise and the old count was deleted, then it would be confusing for older members "I thought you were leaving Samwise, but now your back" "but I'm a new Samwise" and it would ceep on changing and changing and would be confusing, just like the other thing would if you would let me change to something else, it would be confusing, it would all be confusing, and so what's the point, just pick #'s, find a random name, use your first name, use 2 words instead of one, or something like that, so that if you don't want numbers.

LFA, you CAN change your name by creating a new account, you just can't keep your LFA post count if you do that.

I think it really makes sense NOT to change the username. The mods would be far to busy and if the users could do it themselves: total confusion ... nobody would recognize the changed username and it would be stupid ... PLUS: once you have a well-known username, you wouldn't want to get rid of it

i was speaking of the first "Gimli". He was one of the first members in the old Entmoot. he wasn't around much, but his sister was one of the most active members those days. After checking what you have said, i've realized that he lost the rights over his name in the passing to the new board.
