Actually I enjoyed The Dark Is Rising more than the others that I read. I think I liked it more because it seemed darker, and had more wizardry in it. Not the first time I read it, but later, when I read it again is whenI understood it. It's a lot more understandable on the second time.

My favorite sci-fi books other than LOTR would have to be the Shannara series by Terry Brooks.

The Castle of Llyr
Taran Wanderer
The High King- awesome book

They are more of a children's series, but they were very fun to read!

I forgot the Warlord Trilogy!! I read it last summer and it was great!

I've tried the Prydain chronicles, but they felt too childish or something to me for some reason... I stopped reading in the middle of the second book.

Definately not the only one. Count me in too. I've read them all till 'the truth', I'm still waiting for 'the last hero' to come out in paperback.

Anyone read the Chronicles of Thomas Covenant, the Unbeliever? I'm reading book one now... hope it gets better. (I'm not really a big fan of fantasy - I prefer scifi.)

I believe RA Salvatore is my favourite writer next to Tolkien. The Darkelf Trilogy is simply amazing. I love all the books I've read of him...
