Hmm, interesting......

(was the job application to fill the position of bus driver by any chance?)

The old lady........nope, I don't want any dead folks in my car thanks........but I would probby phone an ambulance or something for her.

The old friend..........nope, he should have used his brain and 'phoned me the night before to organise a lift (he didn't, so I guess he enjoys taking the bus).

The perfect partner............Yeah, I'd pick her up.........couldn't gaurantee that she'd make it to work on time tho'

In reality I wouldn't have either. I probably would have driven by wondering what those idiots were doing out in a storm anyway. The old lady would die, my friend would be pissed and I'd hook up with some heinous partner.

I can't even drive yet. So I'd be bicycling past, and so...

1. The old lady could sit in the bike basket like ET.
2. The old friend could sit on the handlebars...and guide me safely once again through the rain.
3. And the dream date? Would of be chasing after ME!

The old friend. Duty first! I would hate myself if I did not "do the right thing". Hating oneself is torture, not for me!

Not to me. I would be "in debt" to the old friend. The old lady is a stranger, but I owe the old friend my concern and action. (IMO)

Yes, I can certainly see where you're coming from, though I'm still with the old lady.

I wonder if your friend would rather you save the old lady than help him/herself...

I would have taken the old lady, she's the one apparently in need. My good friend would have understood, or else he wouldn't have been a good friend. And the perfect partner would have dissed me anyway if I had taken him instead of the lady. If not, he wouldn't be the perfect partner.

Well, It's true, because my old friend is a "quality" person , she would immediately say "Help the old lady, Liz! I'll wait!"

I'll probably take the old friend with me. Not because he saved my life and I now want to repay it but just because he's my friend. I'd check whether there still is a buss coming and if not I'd ask the old lady if I can phone her an ambulance or call somebody she knows. If she's going to die, the ambulanciers will be much better equiped to help her than me. They might even safe her, that's something I don't see ME doing. Imagine if she dies in my car, I don't want to know HOW I'm supposed to explain that.

My reasons for not immediately taking the old lady with me..... well I don't know about you guys but I don't think there are that many old ladies that will get in a car with a prefect stranger.

As for not taking the perfect partner.... with my luck he'll probably has some totally fabulous date. Let's safe us both the embarassment of finding out.

The old lady is going to just drop dead if I can't pick her up? Well, I'd just shovel the junk out of my car and comfortably situate her in the back seeat, say to my friend, "sorry, I'll call a taxi to get you from the hospital, I'll pay you back later," and since there is no such thing as someone who I can't find a flaw in, that takes care of everybody.

Because I believe that it is the responsibility of those who are capable to take care of the very old and the very young, especially the former. I don't just think "Hey, she can't do anything to help people anymore, she's old. Let her die." I believe that after one has lived a long, most likely hard life, they deserve a rest and to be well treated. Also, she's the only one who's about to die.

I'd probably be standing at the bus stop too because I can't drive yet. There's your answer.

Re: Moral Dilemma - Interview Killer Question

Are you saying that the people you leave behind are going to die? If not, who cares if its a stormy night? I'd say pick up the old woman and let the friend and dream lover get wet.

*chuckle*

My answer is this: I would stop the car, get out, and walk around to the other side. Since I already know that my old friend is a good guy, I would hand him my keys and tell him to get the old woman to the hospital, immediately, and keep the car. Then I would walk up to the other woman, tell her she's the one I've been waiting for all these years, and we would ride, er... take the bus, off into the sunset and live happily ever after.
