Legolas shouting at Aragorn (not really shouting, but disagreeing) (but I hated it when he excused his behaviour, that was not necessary)

My fave bits have to be (i didnt do any extended versions cos i havent got the dvd but i am buying the set when it comes out, yay)
1. When Aragorn grabes Frodos shoulder and drags him upstairs then in the room Aragorn : Are you frightened? Frodo: Yes Aragorn :Not nearly frightened enough 2. This bits quite long, at the council of Elrond Boromir :This is a gift, let us use the weapon of the enemy Aragorn :You cannot weild it, none of us can, it answers to Sauron alone, It has no oher master Boromir :What would a ranger know of this matter? Legolas :This is no mere ranger, this is Aragorn son of Arathorn and heir to the throne of Gondor, you owe him your allegance Boromir :Aragorn? This is Isildurs heir?...Gondor has no king, Gondor needs no king (hence my signature)

I can't indicate a scene in the Fellowship of the Ring that truly appealed to me, but I can say that the scene in the Two Towers where the Ents march to Isengard sends shivers down my spine, and Ben Del Maestro's music adds onto it. I can also say that the unleashed waters during the Isengard scene are intensely realistic and it sort of leaves you frozen in your seat. Last but not least comes the scene in which Gandalf, Eomer, and the Rohirrim ride to Helm's Deep... it's breath-taking.

He said: "Get up, you tom-fool of a Took! Where, in the name of wonder, in all this ruin is Treebeard? I want him. Quick!"' 'What are we going to do now then?' asked Pippin, undaunted by the wizard's bristling brows. "Knock on the door with your head, Peregrin Took,' said Gandalf. 'But if that does not shatter them, and I am allowed a little peace from foolish questions, I will seek for the opening words.' 'Fool of a Took!' he growled. 'This is a serious journey, not a hobbit walking-party. Throw yourself in next time, and then you will be no further nuisance. Now be quiet!' |

Has anyone mentioned the whole Gandolf escape scene from Orthanc here? Starting with him whispering to the moth and letting it go then facing Saruman who is giving him one last chance and then the moth reappears followed by the jump to the giant eagle (whats his name again?). And the beautiful etheral music when he is dealing with the moth. I though this bit of filming was simply outstanding and so strikingly artisitc that it moved me. I know the book purists wont like it just because that wasnt exactly in the book but thats a silly reason to not appreciate a billiantly done scene.

I watched TTT again last night, and the things I enjoyed most this time (it changes each time I see it) was:
- The banner taken by the wind when Eowyn is standing outside Meduseld and sees Aragorn, Gandalf, Gimli and Legolas approaching. To me that was a beautiful visualisation of how deep the kingdom of Rohan had fallen. - Aragorn comforting Haleth son of Hama at Helms Deep before the battle. - Theoden at Helms Deep when the fortress is taken, and he decides to ride out with Aragorn to meet his foes in the last and desperate attempt to defend his people. It was a small contribute to the moral of the story: never give up hope.

Another favourite moment: Eowyn's face expressions and body language when Aragorn comes to Helms Deep and meets Legolas, and receives Arwen's necklace from him.

Insidious Rex:
I totally agree about the escape scene. The music was great, and the bit with the moth when you see it wafting back as Saruman is threatening Gandalf. Great film making. When he jumps off onto the eagle and it shows him gliding away to the surprise of Saruman.

A kindred spirit. I was beginning to wonder if I was the only one that saw the sheer beauty in that scene.

I'm a book purist, and I loved it. I will often find myself trying to mimick his whisperings.
BTW, the Eagle's name was Gwaihir.
