The trick is to try to enjoy yourself. It might seem like a lot at the time, but looking back-only in 1st year university no less, high school seems like a time when you have lots of freedom in comparison to your responsibility.

Well I'm only in 8th grade so technically I don't thave to think about college now, but I do have some big plans! I reallyreallyreally want to be on Broadway (don't laugh), but I don't know how possible that is, so I would at least like to do something with musical theater, possibly teaching it. I plan to major in Drama/Performing Arts and minor in Interior Design (something I'm also interested in) to have something to fall back on in case the acting thing doesn't work out. I plan to attend Florida College (www.flcoll.edu), a great Christian school where my mom went, my first 2 years, and after that I'm really not sure. I've visited Duke University and their campus is GORGEOUS, although I'm not sure what their drama program is like. I've also thought about the College of William & Mary. They have a beautiful campus too and it's close to where my grandparents live, but I've heard that it's a really liberal school and that the people there are real preppy, so I'll have to check it out some more. Also I've considered heading straight to a drama school. But even if I don't pick that I plan to go to one after I've completed 4 years of study, to take a specialized 1-year course for advanced students that I've seen many schools offer. Another option I've considered is going to school in Ireland or England, which would be a total dream for me but it would be very expensive. Anyway, that's all I've thought about for now. As I get older I'll look more into these options.

I'm supposed to be thinking about university right now, though it seems so far away - I haven't even done AS levels yet I can't even decide what subject to study, let alone where to go. Seems like the answer is get a list, get a pencil, close your eyes and tick...

Think about what you like to do-and remember that there's more open then you think. I know people who've been at Queen's for seven years b/c of switching degrees. I don't know what I want to do yet, but some of that depends on my grades of course.

I'm a junior in high school (grade 11), and I want to work in the film industry. Acting, directing, producing, I want to do it all. My big huge dream is film school in UCLA, but I think I'm going to have to go a bit closer to home... blah... >.<

I know people in 1st year in McGill, the main benefit is the city itself. Queen's is wonderful, but I want to go back to Toronto for my graduate education. I've heard nice things about Dal, but I don't know anyone who went there very well. I guess it depends where you live-I just decided in grade 12 that a university town would be better then a big city.

This might sound kinda babyish but I've got to tell someone and since none of you know me I figure this is the best place to do it. Next year I'll be in highschool and to me colleage seems so far off but my parents are already rideing my tale about what I'm gonna study when I get there. And I don't think they realize that the more they push me and tell me to make a decision the more undecided I'll be in the end. But to top it off I'm leaving some of my closest friends behind(except Sarah). I get kinda scared and over whelmed thinking about all the things that are gonna be different. Any words of wisdom from some of you older guys or girls?

In America? Because then i would have no idea. Why don't you come to an Australian Uni? Not so far away, and they accept a lot of international students (if you can pay full-fee)

I will need to go to a university to do Medicine. I want to go to the Uni Of Melbourne (the best in Aus) to do Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery/Bachelor of Medical Science. I had this brief burst of desperation to get into an Ivy League school a while ago. Then i realised a) i would never get in b) wouldn't be able to afford it c) i can't be bothered

From what I understand both schools are excellent institutions. It's hard to get in. Of course you have to either get a scholarship or pay dearly. I suppose it's the same as anyone else-what are your other options. But it's pretty impressive to get accepted to those schools.

Boston College
UC DAvis
University of michigan at Ann Arbor
Grinnell College.

the rest of the decisions have yet to come out

So a number of you are thinking of Engineering, eh? Bwahahaha, another generation of victims!

I'm taking engineering myself at the University of Alberta. General this year, computer/software next year. I'll probably take an extra year or two after I'm done to do a degree in Political Science or English...

Hey markedel, Queen's won the bid for hosting the North American Debating Championships in January 2004, so I might be coming out east. McGill's got Canadian Nationals for March, too.
