Where is the hand on the harpsting, and the red fire glowing?
Where is the spring and the harvest and the tall corn growing?

They have past like rain on the mountain, like a wind in the meadow;
The days have gone down in the West behind the hills into shadow.

Who shall gather the smoke of the dead wood burning, or behold the flowing years from the Sea returning?

Éomund is the earliest named Marshal that I can find in Appendix A, but the title went back further than him, as Fengel (2870-2953) was said to have been at strife with his marshals. Tough one, Beleg Strongbow! More time, please.

Well, I'm not sure about Theodred or Theoden (I don't think so and I'd have to check). But... the first response, Eomund, is a correct answer!
Your turn to ask a question, Millane.

At least 24 years, with Theodred the elder?

Right! Sigh...I've always been inclined to choose words over math. How about 13 years?

Hey!

Besides the two really famous ones, Shadowfax and Felaróf, there are at least five horses of Rohan specifically named in The Lord of the Rings (there may be more, but these are the ones I found). They are....?

Well done, Millane! Must have been very good coffee.

I'd missed Firefoot, Éomer's horse; had another one in mind for #5 (I'd better save his name for the future). Your go!

eee... Was it Brego, son of Eorl?
I may not be able to check this in time: so if i'm right the question is
Who would have been King (of Rohan) had he not walked the Paths of the Dead?

Ah! Correct! Well, just to say it again, the question is....

Who would have been King (of Rohan) had he not walked the Paths of the Dead?

A hint: it's very closely tied to your question, millane.
