Just started reading these fantastic books last week. I'm on the Amber Spyglass now. I think I'd either like my dæmon to be some kind of bird (raven, falcon, etc), rodent (ferret, etc), or a big cat. For practicalities sake, I'd go with a bird.

I'm glad you're enjoying those books. I read them too, and loved them. The only person I've recommended them too said no right off the bat though . I think he judged negative on the books because I recommended them .
So, BeardofPants, what did you think of Lyra's parents? I don't know what my Dæmon would be. If it were a lion though, I'd be weirded out . Mine would probably be something that focuses intently on one subject, does what it intends successfully on that subject, but while thus focused it misses everything going on around it. |

I think that Dæmons in these books actually are as strong as the individual with whom they are bonded. My primary example of that is that no matter what Lyra's Dæmon changes into, Mrs. Coulter's could always defeat it, regardless of what shape it had taken. |

I wonder, are we choosing theses because of what we think the'r characters are/what they represent/ or asthetics?

Hum. I don't know, mine would probobly be a Hawk or a bird of pray. because I don't really talk two people much, and I just kind of walk around and observe everything around me. I don't know, I think you can't sum up a person with one Animal

My dæmon is a very psychotic magpie.
Yes, you are too psychotic! He doesn't think that's fair of me to call him that. What he doesn't seem to realise is that it means I'm just as insane, so it's not really an insult...is it? And yes, you are a very psychotic magpie, Lu! He still begs to differ, and thinks I am not only being derogatory to him but to myself and I should stop. Well hmph.
