You know, the realm of Thingol, and the realm of Finrod were both Caverns, and cosidered to be extreamly beautiful.

Of course caves can be quite beautiful. (Especially if there are elves there. . .) But trees are alive!

Indeed Thingol's was the fairest dwelling that any King has ever had, east of the Sea.

Not Finrod's mind you, but Thingol's. Finrod's was just so-so.

People who say trees will burn and die and be destroyed will die in flames and objects with sharp points. You have been warned....

I love trees AND caves, although I prefer open spaces and lots of trees. Caves are highly overrated.

Drop a boulder across the entrance to a cave and you see why being in the forest is better.....in a cave you are like a rat in a hole, a fish in a rain barrel.....

Trees forever!
Wait-anyone been to ape caves in Mt. St. Helens? They're really cool. . .nevermind. I like trees and open spaces and air and living things!

I prefer a forest of huge Baobab trees with holes at the side of 'em allowing you to either go to the canopy above or enter a network of caverns underneath the forest. The central cavern would be many hectares wide and about a hundred feet deep with trees and a lake with a small island in the middle!

That sounds like a great compromise between trees and caves, Arathorn! And very nice. . .

I haven't climbed a tree for so long. . .I think I'll go find one soon

Oh! My 300th post!

As I am a Dunadain Ranger who was raised by elves, I have always preferred trees and nature, long rambling bushwalks, the light and life and peace...
But I find the sea absolutely fascinating with its changing hues and patterns and strange life.
And I enjoy cities with tall towers etc. for short times.
And I love wandering through caves.... and I collect semi-precious stones.

So I'm a bit of a mixture.... although I'll always be an elf in personality....

I don't think I would ever climb a tree while drunk. . . that would be a very silly thing to do! Question: Do elves get drunk?
As for really big trees, well, that's what I do for fun!
Elfmaster, you speak as if you'd had experience. . .

Oh, I haven't read the Hobbit yet. I must do so right away, if there are drunk elves. . .that ought to be interesting!

Thanks again for the warning. I shall be certain never to try it!
