I saw an interview with Elijah Wood and David Letterman. One of the subjects they talked about was the Tattoos. Elijah got his on his abdomen. He also said it was REALLY painful. Well DUH. It's not gonna tickle.

Actually the pain from a tattoo can start to feel kinda good after awhile. Once the area starts to go numb (about 20 minutes), the needle starts to feel like a good scratching.

Actually during my last tat I almost feel asleep. Of course before that I almost passed out.

awesome! my friend veronica (well sort of friend..she's not a tolkien fan..in fact the only thing tolkien she liked was the movie...heh heh) got a clip-on nose ring to wear last halloween, but it fell off cuz it was too big. it looked really cool tho!

if i can stand the pain when i'm 23, i'm going to get a tattoo of the tengwar script of "Dior daughter of Luthien, Heir of Thingol" or something on my right shoulderblade.

right now i'm afraid of 2 things: the pain and my parents' fury when they find out!!

i think i'd get it a tattoo of what i said b4 in a circle in Tengwar script, a circle around some flower or sprig of herbs. any suggestions what kind of flower/herb?

dunno, i'll try and find it...didn't it say somewhere that it had white berries? maybe that's something completely different..i don't recall. I'm now bouncing back and forth between 'Dior daughter of Luthien, Heir of Thingol' and 'Eruyauve'(my name translated into Elvish) or something else completely different. i think that i'd like to choose a completely original elvish name

[self-edited in retrospect in the spirit of good relations]

I do not think tattoos are a good idea.

Just my EIDRIORCQWSDAKLMEDDCWWTIWOATTOPWFIO opinion. No offense to anyone with a tattoo in present company. I just hate to think others might make a permanent mistake with their derma without thinking it through thoroughly. Soapbox dismounted.

A moral of the whole (after the primary symbolism of the Ring, as the will to mere power, seeking to make itself objective by physical force and mechanism, and so also inevitably by lies) is the obvious one that without the high and noble the simple and vulgar is utterly mean; and without the simple and ordinary the noble and heroic is meaningless." EIDRIORCQWSDAKLMEDDWWTIWOATTOPWFIO opinions are good ones to have, and i think i mentioned that this was a contemplation of 10 years in the future? definitely not getting one before i'm 23, maybe not even then...but it was a discussion of what i'd get if and when i decided to get one. so thank you for that contribution, (jeez, this sounds so mean in my head!!! i sound like i'm pissed off, but really i'm not!!)

anyway, i might/might not get one, depends on what i'm doing then. if i'm dancing (like i want to) as in the American Ballet Theatre or New York City Ballet, then i'm definitely NOT getting one!!! however if i end up as a chemist or research biologist, then i might seriously consider it

just some fanciful planmaking so i know what i want to do if i do it

good consdering, bropous and tinuviel.
i know i would never get one, no matter how much or how long i was plauged by "poser" remarks of my less respectable stereotypes.
i just don't see the need to inject my self with ink.
heorin, yes, ink , no.
JUST KIDDING!

besides i didn't read that the elves of middle earth had the need for any tattoos, so why should i?

not to say that getting one is wrong, plenty of my friends have stuff done, and more stuff pierced (including some uh, different looking ones!)
and i still love them to death.
this is just my choice.
whatever floats your gravy boat

TinuvielChild--what's your name? I mean, if you don't want to tell me, that's fine, your translated "Elvish" name is the same as mine!

On the subject of tattoos, I was thinking of something in Tengwar script for myself, but I don't know if I really want one....especially considering the aforementioned EIDRIORCQWSDAKLMEDDWWTIWOATTOPWFIO opinion, I don't know if I'll get one. Like TinuvilChild, it depends on what I end up doing for work...but if I get one, it will definetely be LotR related.

hmmmm...well, there's always drawing one on myself in magic marker and gel pens....

and if i thought that i were seriously considering getting one, i would spend at least 3 months debating with myself, and drawing it where i wanted it in magic marker and gel pens to see how it looked.. cuz bropous had some really good points.

oh and i only want my ears pierced once!! no multiple piercings!! eeew..although tattoos prolly hurt more.. and there are always those fake tattoos. do you suppose that if i knew someone who designed those fake tattoos that they would custom make one to my design?..no i don't think so either but it was worth a two-second consideration. oh well
